Any thoughts?? very little chatter about the game this weekend I think we're all hoping for no injuries this week (as with every week, but particularly this week).

Two things: 1. Let's hope for the best. Our boys are gamers and will undoubtedly play hard.
2. Does anyone know if there is a broadcast? If so would you please share the link?

Any thoughts?? very little chatter about the game this weekend It's been quiet every week. Very little chatter for pregames. Coming off a 1-10 season and staring down a similar doesn't help. It's RU's homecoming - they should win unless some act of God intervenes on our behalf. I think we'll put up a decent fight (meaning we score some) 35-17. Anyone making the 1 1/2 hr trip from DC to Richmond? Game won't be on TV apparently, via RU's Website: richmondspiders.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/102108aac.htmltherefore channelsurfing.net might not work this week... GO HOYAS!

I'm impressed with your confidence in our offense- especially since we hadn't scored over 14 points in a game until last week against a weaker Bucknell team. I'm more hopeful that our defense will contain their offense under 40 points, maybe under 30 points. If they can accomplish the latter, that would be fantastic.

I'm an eternal optimist....
the team has gotta put it all together at least one time this year. if we control the TOs, we can easily put up more than 14 I think... Just execute - why not show up against our best opponent this year.

I caught the last ten minutes of the Richmond/JMU game on TV--Richmond should have won that game. They have lots of athletes and very good size. My fear is that they take a big lead, put in the 2's and 3's, and those guys go crazy trying to earn more playing time.

Game notes posted later on Friday. Georgetown will be starting EIGHT freshmen and sophomores on offense, part of what I said earlier this season about "pouring concrete"--it's great to set a foundation, but if it's eight more freshmen and sophomores next season, the foundation is never going to take hold. Houghton is again not on the two-deep. Sidney Baker is not listed on the roster. grfx.cstv.com/photos/schools/gu/sports/m-footbl/auto_pdf/weekly-release.pdf

In the 1996 and 1997 seasons, we were a combined 15-6. In those years, we played Fordham twice and lost by a combine 98-6 to two Fordham teams having terrible years. And that was in the era when we were GOOD versus our competition.
We've come a long way since then and no one would deny that we're in the same general class as Fordham a decade later. In fact, in our last three meetings, we've beaten Fordham once and lost by 8 or less twice (and this is in spite of our 7-26 overall record from 2005-07).
Today, I expect the team to get absolutely shellacked by Richmond. And I hope that when 2018 rolls around, we'll be able to say that, win-or-lose, we belong on the same field as they do.
Keep the faith. Hoya saxa.
(in my typical fashion, I'm saying "keep the faith" now, and by the second quarter I'll be posting messages that we should tear down the football field and cover it with a parking lot...)

FYI, for those who aren't able to make it to Richmond, channelsurfing.net appears to be covering the game.

Another disorganized start: Second play of the game, Brady throws an INT on his 20.
UR needs only two plays to go up 7-0, 13:28 1st. (Six straight games where the opponent has scored in its first possession.)

Wow!! This is unbelievable. I really don't understand how the personnel is being used? For instance why didn't they play Kerome last year so he could learn the position? Last year they played him in the slot and Robert Lane at quarterback. This year they move Lane to slot and Kerome to quarterback. Does this mean Kerome will be a running back next year? My point is the coaching staff has to make commitments to guys if we are to get better.
This also goes for the seniors. Georgetown seems to be the only place where you get worse the longer you stay. Look at the seniors last year who played early in their careers then were benched. Look at the ones this year like Sidney Baker who was one of our leading receivers the last three years, Anthony Homsey (one of the fastest guys on the team), Torre Sunderland (6'1" corner who did well last year), Chris Parker (5th leading tackler last year who now only plays special teams). And how about Robert Lane and Charlie Houghton. They should be ready to contribute but the last time Charlie player he was only given the ball twice.

Next five series:
GU: Three and out. UR: Drove six plays to kick a field goal, but missed. GU: Three and out. UR: Opened with 39 yd. pass, fumbled at GU 7. GU: Three and out.
Avg. GU field position: Georgetown 18. Avg. UR field position: Georgetown 37.

The announcers on ESPN radio are PUNKING us. They're saying the game plan is to get the starters as many touches as possible very early on, then rest them. They're also saying how the crowd and players are really flat, and who can blame them for not being fired up.

End of 1, 7-0.
I think there are some out of town scoreboard watchers that will think GU is keeping them in check. That's not even close to the case. Richmond ended the quarter with 109 yards, Georgetown 4.
Richmond scores on the first play of the 2nd, 12 yard run, 14-0. Announcers said the runner "makes it look easy".

This looks like a varsity vs. a jayvee. All the same, the team is fighting hard. We just don't have the guns.

Richmond FG, 17-0.
Georgetown may not have the depth, but they signed the contract, didn't they? Someone must have thought that they were going to be up to it by week 9, but having been outgained 176-13, the answer is otherwise.

We should run more option if, for no other reason, to keep the clock rolling.
I think we just ran the same passing play 2x in a row, and both deflected off a MLBs hands. On third play, we came up with an inexplicable dive play which had predictable results. 3-and-out.
