You don't take anything put out by American Crossroads seriously, do you? And perhaps it would behoove the Mittmeister to learn his sheikhs from his Sikhs. Might help, after that Palestinian debacle on his trip abroad to demonstrate his "command" of foreign policy issues.

I thought it was funny (and obviously true). I'm waiting for someone to identify what Mitt said about Palestine that wasn't accurate.

That Palestinian "debacle" probably helped Mitt Romney with a lot of voters. Certainly more than it hurt him with people who weren't going to vote for him anyway.
(it also had the benefit of, as kc points out, being more or less the truth...thought not the whole truth admittedly).
Followed by a superior visit to Poland...Romney's overseas trip was mostly a success, despite attempts to paint it otherwise.
But sure, sheik and sikh...that's a pretty unfortunate slip of the tongue.

This is the home page of The Sun's website: www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/Yeah. I care a lot about what they think. Voters care a lot about what they think. I'm guessing Gawker is not a big fan of Mitt Romney either.

I'm guessing Gawker is not a big fan of Mitt Romney either. You think the Greg Sargent echo chamber is bad, check out the political posts on Gawker. There was one post this week about when the Romney campaign played a song from Silversun Pickups at a recent rally. The stupidity and vitriol in the comments made me want to gouge my eyes out. I have to stop reading those things.

What a remarkably ignorant comment (not to mention galactically stupid from a political sense).
I remember back in high school I had a teacher (luckily not a science teacher, nor one of the Jesuits) who tried to sell us that "you can't get pregnant from rape" BS. WTF??
However, I fail to see how the entire Republican party has to answer for his comments. No one has asked the entire Democratic party to answer for Maxine Waters.
I still think Claire McCaskill is a dead woman walking, whether Akin steps out or not. But this has certainly given her a chance, whereas I think she had zero chance before.

You have more confidence in Akin than Scott Brown. It's not necessarily that I have confidence in Akin. It's more I think Missou-rah is looking for any way possible to get rid of McCaskill. Her popularity in her state is steady in the high 30s. As I said, I think she's gone whether he stays in or not, but he has definitely given her an opening.

Or Akin could just deny he ever made the comment. Like Obama is denying today that his campaign ever said Romney committed a felony.

I know that Claire polls poorly, but Akin, man - the rape comment, wanting to re-litigate civil rights laws, comparing federal student loans to stage 3 cancer and opposing federal funding for school lunches - how could he possibly win a state wide election? I don't think I could live in his district.

Love the National Review comment on Akin: "Give the man points for concision, at least: His remarks combined several mistakes with brutal efficiency."

I think the state Republican party can pretty much just choose the candidate.
I think Brunner finished second in the primary, but they'll probably pick Steelman, just to nullify this whole issue.
EDIT: People (other than Claire McCaskill) who are really happy about Akin's stupid comment:
- About 6 Republican Congressmen who, ummm, took some liberties in Israel recently. Morons.
- Barack Obama, who just got plastered in, of all places, a Newsweek cover story. Which is, I think the only way Newsweek was ever going to get anyone to buy or read their magazine anymore.
People who are really sad about this story: - Newsweek and Tina Brown "Look! See?? We're fair." "Yeah, sorry. No one cares. An idiot in Missouri just said something idiotic."

If Akins stays in this thing, the Republicans calling for him to step down are giving McCaskill some great ad material.

The party leadership is getting in line to force him to drop his bid, certainly before the convention--it's a distraction in the national race and the GOP knows it stands a good chance of winning the seat if anyone but Akin is on the ballot vs. McCaskill.

Yes, and the party leadership has such a great track record of being able to get people in Senate races to do what they want (Murkowski, et all). PPP has him up one. There is no way he is quitting right now. It would take a poll where he's down 20 or a complete lack of funding, and pro-life groups aren't backing off of him for supporting their position, however crazily.
