Honest question: What does the anti-Obama crowd here think that one of the Republican nominees will do 2013-2017 that is better than what Obama is doing?
Looking for policy answers more than general abstractions.

Honest question: What does the anti-Obama crowd here think that one of the Republican nominees will do 2013-2017 that is better than what Obama is doing? Looking for policy answers more than general abstractions. Off the top of my head. 1. Repeal Obamacare or give blanket exemptions to all states. 2. Open up drilling in Alaska and the Gulf and approve the Keystone pipeline. Continue to encourage alternate sources of energy. 3. Enact a balanced budget amendment. 4. Raise eligibility ages for both Medicare and Social Security. 5. Make vertical cuts to the government by abolishing the departments of Education and Energy, as a start. 6. With Congress, pass a budget. 7. Treat Israel as an ally. 8. Simplify the tax code to eliminate all deductions except mortgage and charitible and reduce number of brackets to two. 9. Abolish the Environmental Protection Agency and replace it with a new agency with greatly reduced authority. As a start.

Just out of curiosity, which clown are you counting down to? Mitt "I'll release my tax returns in April...maybe" Romney or Newt "Death 'till us part? If she gets sick I'm gone" Gingrich?

I wonder if any of the Republican candidates would be able to actually implement such changes (though I imagine there's a 100% greater chance of them doing it than Obama...)

Either one will be an upgrade from the anti-American, closet Marxist who is currently defiling 1600 Pensylvania Avenue. T minus 365

T minus 365 I think that's great that you think President Obama is a Marxist - it shows how extreme your politics are, which is helpful. Thankfully though, independents are more in touch with reality and will need a better reason to vote against an incumbent with the economy improving and no sign of a viable alternative on the other side. T minus 365 - look forward to watching on the mall again - I've got my space picked out.

The economy is improving? Unempolyment numbers are only down because people have given up. Hope and Change? Good one. After four years of this empty suit, all America has left is hope for a change.
As for your spot on the Mall, if Barry stays in office four more years, it will be very crowded because folks will be living there. His Presidency is an abject failure. Been to a gas station lately? Prices have doubled since his Inaugural.
However, I expect he has a chance to be reelected because people will buy into his Redeception Campaign. Sad but true.

Along with all my fellow stupid, racist, uneducated, redneck, right-wing nuts, I cast my vote today in the South Carolina primary as a first step to returning sanity to our country. Didn't get the chance to count how many dead people were voting.

If the way the House of Representatives has been run for the past year is any indication, the last thing we can expect if Republicans win is sanity.

In a Romney or Gingrich presidency, I think there is a very strong chance for #'s1 and 2. 6 and 7 I would consider certainties. 4 and 8 would have a chance. At the very least, I think they would be openly debated and legislation would be introduced. Not sure if those could pass. Institutional resistance would make 5 and 9 non-starters most likely, and probably 3 has slim chances as well. Just IMO. But yes, none of these things would even be considered in a second Obama term. Maybe #2, but just the Keystone and alternative energy parts. I would say #6 would have to happen at some point in a second term, but who knows? They may just bag it altogether.

My guess is that 4 and 6 would happen in a Obama second term, and 3, 5, 8, and 9 are complete non-starters under any administration.

Nice to see Barry acknowledge that he will again lower the bar on Presidential decorum by using the State of the Union as an unabashed campaign speech. There is no depth this man will not plumb in his Redeception Campaign.
He truly is all class; the pity is it is all low class.

No. It's just as good a way to vent stress as anyhting else. While I am legitimately troubled by what passes for a President these days, there are much bigger issues in my (and presumably everyone else's) life.
I am often amused by the reactions to some of my posts.

I love these types of complaints following a period where the Democrat party controlled both chambers and the White House, and they still control the WH and the Senate, yet it's all the fault of the GOP that hope and change aren't sweeping the country.

T minus 364 I am fairly certain every President in history uses the SOTU to lay out his yearly agenda. The fact that this is an election year only means that the agenda can't be divorced from a relection campaign.

In 2004, Bush even purposefully scheduled his for the night after the Iowa Caucus to help change the subject so to speak. This is nothing new...
