I remember it, as well. Caused me a recurring nightmare that lasted into adulthood.

derhoya, thanks for the reference on the CRS report. The lower number of ships under Bush did not impact the USN's qualitative military edge. I am just surprised that Governor Romney's advisers could not properly brief him, and that President Obama did not/could not call him on that factual misstatement, leading me to believe the President wasn't even aware of the ship strength under President Bush. I also watched the PBS documentary on the Cuban missile crisis. I remember doing the "duck and cover" routine in school in 1962. Agreed, but when have facts mattered? Here's hoping this country/world never faces such a similar crisis. With that said, it really puts the faux 'crises' put on by the media or the political parties into perspective. That hyperbolic language doesn't belong in describing election cycles, I feel. Anywho, Go Team America!

Colin Powell endorsed BO this AM on Charlie Roses' morning show. Mark Cuban is leaning BO too, but didn't fully endorse.
Breaking News: Norah ODonnell is smoking. I'm jealous of any of yall that were in her class back in the 90s?

This is almost as surprising as the Washington Post endorsement of Obama.
As Michelle Malkin would say, "Let me put on my 'shocked' face."
I don't think endorsements matter a huge deal, but FWIW, Romney's been doing pretty well with endorsements in swing states by newspapers who endorsed Obama last time. I think he's got four so far in Nevada (2), Florida and Michigan.
As for Norah O'Donnell, I think she looks in the mirror every day and wishes she looked more like Erin Burnett.

It'll be interestng to see which way the Des Moines Register goes. Fascinating front page: www.newseum.org/todaysfrontpages/hr.asp?fpVname=IA_DR&ref_pge=gal&b_pge=1

As a former SecState, clearly Colin Powell is endorsing Obama based upon his exceptional work ensuring the safety of State Dept. employees. Or maybe Powell and Obama bonded over tales of giving incorrect information about the Middle East to the United Nations.

Do you dislike Allred because she is a professionally aggrieved lawyer with a wide audience while you are a mere habitually aggrieved lawyer confined to this message board?

How does your question have anything to do with my post? 2. Do you like Allred? I don't know anyone that does, and there's a whole host of reasons why.

Rest assured. Gloria Allred and her staff of muckrakers are already fully aware of this thread and are currently filing a $50M defamation lawsuit against kchoya.
In addition, they are going to hold a press conference later today to tie the lawsuit to Mitt Romney, since kc is most likely going to vote for him.
As for the "Girls" video, well that show pretty much sucks anyway, so who cares.
Now, if they want to get the cast of "Veep" to record a voting PSA, THAT I would pay attention to. Love that show! (even if it is more or less a watered down, rehashed version of CYE.)

Well you had been ranting about Allred, I was just wondering if part of your disdain for her stemmed from jealousy. I mean, she's famous for getting offended, you have a much smaller audience here when your delicate sensibilities are offended, which seems to happen several times a day. And no, I have no fondness for Allred.

I made one post about her.

So much for the board coming together over our mutual loathing of Gloria Allred and Donald Trump.
BTW, I have changed my voting strategy. I plan on voting for the ticket that demonstrates the most caring and empathy for those affected by the hurricane over the next several days.
Monkey: meet wrench.
No, but seriously. Good luck and stay safe, everyone. I'm usually pretty skeptical about how severe these storms can get in the mid-Atlantic, particularly after Isabel, which had all of DC in a panic for nothing (though parts of MD did get hit pretty hard, granted).
However, I think I am a believer on this one. It looks like it could get pretty wicked nasty out there in a couple days.
