I'm sure that many others agree when I say that over the offseason we lost 4 of our very favorite players. For me personally, Pat was my very favorite followed closely by Roy. A lot of us will be moving on to new favorite players, so I was wondering who people thought might best capture what we love about this team. Right now my two clubhouse favorites are Sapp and Chris, but we will see throughout the course of the season. Who do you guys think are going to rise into being the biggest fan favorites this season?

I agree with you about Sapp and Chris... Sapp will continue to be because he's been around a while and a key part of our success, and about the only kid on the team who was not a Mickey D AA, DC POY, Balto POY or something!
But the kid has cojones.... and attitude. He has delivered in the clutch. Chris has that flash, sass, quickness, nerve.... loves to take and hit the big shot.
I would like to see Greg become one of our favorites... as that will mean a lot to our success.
But to tell you the truth, I love all these kids. The ones who just left were truly special for helping bring GU back! And the new kids are super talented, really want to be Hoyas, and they too are going to achieve a lot of success.
I guess I'd really have to say my absolute #1 favorite Hoya is JT3! Because he makes all the rest possible... and does it in such a classy fashion. Gives us all a LOT to be proud of.

I was actually 99% certain that you were going to respond to this thread with a response of three words or less.

I will almost guarantee it won't be Dajuan or Freeman as the crowd favorites, because they don't have enough of a personality or a distinguishing characteristic (like being really, really tall). They just go about doing their business and doing it well.
The 2 players with the most enthusiasm, heart, and cajones displayed so far are Sapp and Wright--so I'm predicting them. Monroe will probably be loved cuz of being such a big time recruit and as soon as he has a monster play (tomahawk dunk, finger-waggin rejection, etc.), the crowd will almost certainly come up with a "Roy! Roy! Roy! Roy!" type chant for him too. I also look for Nikita to be the Sead/Kenny Izzo character on this squad for the next 4 years--as soon as we're up by a lot in the 2nd half, they will be chanting "Nikita!"--mainly cuz they can't pronounce his last name, besides he just has that gangly, awkward "I sit on the end of the bench" type look to him that the Gtown crowd loves to root for.

That's a pretty good call Ed. Quick, energy, defense, plays all out all the time, off the bench. I could easily see him becoming a huge crowd favorite. kind of a "Joey Tuomou", only with real talent and ability.

I'll tell you in the middle of the season. Last year, as most I liked all the guys, but I think Jon was my favorite.

Jessie Onions Sapp. If things go to plan, he'll be the first hoya in at least a decade to go to the big dance all four years of college. how many players get that opportunity? when was the last time a georgetown player accomplished that feat? every year, he's been somewhat overshadowed. and that's fair given the talents of his teammates. this year will no different, but he is the "heart and soul" of our basketball team. i'm glad he's the featured jersey this year, because he deserves it. can't wait for the season to start.

That is an interesting thought... 4 years of NCAA tourneys. It used to be automatic... not even something to cross one's mind. But, stopping to think about it, the last time we went 4 years in a row was the 1996/7 season. Victor Page carried the team. But the only senior I recall was Ya Ya Dia! Whoa... who would have thought he would be the answer to that trivia question... last Hoya to go to the NCAA tournament all four years he was eligible! Ya Ya.... not many expected him to amount to much, but he became a very serviceable center. Much better than I thought he would ever be.

A-Free. How can you not like someone who is a silent killer? He has no facial expressions, nothing fazes him, and he will be the best player on the team.
