I don't think as much of Tyreke Evans as others do--think he's highly overrated--but in that picture--he's not being a ballhog--which he can be--but he is taking it up for shot and defense rotated over.
To more important/topical info--how great is it to see Greg rocking his Hoya jersey from media day instead of the McDonalds/Hoop Summit jerseys like the other guys?

Lefty! I get a little basketball chubby everytime I think about having a hotshot southpaw, a big man no less. Lefty!

You caught me. I wasn't being entirely serious with my commentary. I realize that Tyreke has the skill to take his man and score on a help defender. I still think it's a funny picture, though. Especially taking into consideration all the talk around these parts following the McDonalds game -valid or not- concerning Greg's frustration playing in all-star showcase environments rather than a more structured, competitive game. With that in mind, look at Greg's expression and tell me you can't see a thought bubble reading "I can't BELIEVE he's putting that up!"

This was the first thing I noticed when I looked through the list. How great is that?! Greg is the only player in his university's uniform! Love it!

If Greg Monroe turns out to be the # 1 impact freshman this year, where would you rank our hoyas?

RDF, from what I've seen of Tyreke Evans although a major ball hog, he is the truth. He has serious offensive skills. His ability to handle and penetrate at his size is very impressive and once he gets a consistent jump shot he will be unstoppable.
Greg will surprise many in a Hoya uniform. Go Hoyas!!

The problem with Evans is that he's not going to stop taking jump shots until he gets a shot.
I don't think he's as talented as Mayo, and that wasn't exactly a resounding success at USC.

I'm no recruiting expert, and I've only seen Tyreke play once, but I was unimpressed. He has the handle and the athleticism to be a tremendous player. But he settles way too much for bad shots. He could be an absolute terror, and maybe he will be with the right coaching, if he learned not to let his defender off the hook and actually fought for a good shot. But with Memphis, they're probably going to let him shoot whatever he wants. I feel like he'll be a better pro than he will be a college player.

I think Tyreke has better natural penetrating ability than Mayo and agree that he will be a better pro than collegiate. We'll see if Calipari can coach him up or even if he wants to. 6'6" with his skill set and quickness is very impressive, he seems to have a knack for scoring.

Evans jumpshot sucks--his release needs a lot of work as does his shot selection. I do think he made the perfect choice for his style of play--which is a "junky" game--and he'll have chance to improve at Memphis-but he's got to learn how to shoot the ball instead of hoisting ugly/stupid shots and thinking scoring 25 is impressive on low efficiency shooting game.

Shot selection is a huge issue for 'reke. however, he is a bright kid and has the ability to adjust. That being said he's gone after this year whether he's ready or not.

Greg reminds me a LOT of Othella Harrington in that picture.
