I just came back from Vittles, the sandwiches there are flying off the shelf.
From what I'm hearing the 25 kids who went to the hospital are only the tip of the iceberg. A lot more kids got sick but just tried to wait it out.

We are taking this step as a precaution after being notified overnight that approximately 25 students were treated at the Georgetown University Hospital for symptoms related to a possible food borne illness that may have originated in Leo's. At approximately 12:30am doctors notified University officials that students were being treated for vomiting and diarrhea, with most reporting a common connection to eating at Leo's earlier in the day. We have been in touch with these students to provide resources and support and will remain in regular contact with them as we continue to work with local health authorities and infectious disease experts to determine the cause of these illnesses and await guidance on appropriate next steps. As at any time, students experiencing illness or medical emergencies may visit the student health center in Darnall Hall in addition to the Georgetown University Hospital. Students experiencing vomiting and diarrhea are asked to notify their resident assistant and, if severe, seek evaluation at the student health center or Georgetown University Hospital Emergency Room. Please know we are committed to providing updated information to you as it becomes available. Members of the campus community are invited to an information session at 3:00 p.m. today in Sellinger Lounge in the Leavey Center where we will be able to provide any new information and respond to questions. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we continue to address this situation. Sincerely, Todd A. Olson Vice President for Student Affairs

When I moved to Burleith, I wondered whether I should at least get a small block meal plan. I am now patting myself on the back for saving my money for Safeway trips

Vomiting and diarrhea? Sounds like any night of eating at New South then drinking in the Tombs. Wonder if I was poisoned?

dude, no offense, but anyone with a meal plan after their first year needs to kick their own a$$. there are far too many tasty alternatives in the greater georgetown area - why you would be eating that slop is beyond me.
I cashed in my carte blanche 2 weeks after I started my freshman yr and bought individual meals on occasion...i used the rest on subs n stuff (R.I.P.).

Meal plans are required for two years. I'm quite glad I ditched it for senior year, though.

Not the case when I was at GU (99-03) either, and the meal plans were RIDICULOUSLY expensive for the food Marriot served. It was cheaper for me to live off Chicken Madness and snacks from Kozmo.com.

Technically, you could eat at Leo's 5-6 times if you time it right.
I'm pretty sure there's a surgeon general warning you have to read and waiver you must sign if you exceed 4 times, however.

I hear GERMS has been really busy, and more people are getting sick still tonight. The common thread I've heard is that it was a sandwich from Grab n Go.

Technically you can eat there 9 times if you get Grab n'Go after each meal go to late night. (breakfast, lunch, the period between lunch and dinner, then dinner are the meal times where you can get grab n'go) while i dont feel the need to defend my metabolism, i will say that i would eat five times a day if i had enough meals (i have 24 a week). the food has never been as bad as you people make it out to be (even when braski was there-- i ate that food in new south too when i was at camp), most people never go the "vegetarian" section which basically has everything except a main meat course and is much better quality food.
