Blues singer/guitar player, Robert Cray, is bad!!! Outstanding show! I saw him as the lead act for Eric Clapton many moons ago. That was nice. That sounds like it was a great show!

And given recent events and this thread, which I wasn't even aware of until now, I will just add how fortunate I now feel to have attended the first day of Arroyo Seco this year, so I was able to see TP & the Heartbreakers for the first (and last) time. And Alabama Shakes, too, they were awesome.

For the younger folks on this board, O.A.R. is playing at the Anthem on December 23rd, IIRC. My cousin is the lead guitarist Local guys, 4 of the band members went to Wooton HS in Rockville, MD and attended The Ohio State University together, where they picked up their sax player. Another recommended small DC venue - The Hamilton. Saw Chris Smither there last month.

Troy Andrews’ Voodoo Threauxdown in Boston last night. goo.gl/images/s67smuMissed New Brass Band for dinner next door at Yankee Lobster. Preservation Hall was great as always. Had never seen Galactic live but their set was high energy and ranged from jazz to blues to funk. They don’t have a permanent lead singer, allowing them to play with gems like last night’s tiny dynamo of New Orleans soul, Erica Falls. Great vocal range and hard to believe all that sound comes out of someone her size. Walter Wolfman Washington sat in for half the set and was just great- classic blues guitar and even more classic blues vocals. Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue were tremendous. Way better live than on recording. Really outstanding show. Image link function here seems to not be working - here’s one of Walter Washington and a link to Getty images photos from last night: goo.gl/images/Y7kaqowww.gettyimages.com/detail/1011393234

Cyril Neville was really good too, he sat in with Shorty for a couple of songs.

Went to the first day of Arroyo Seco again this year, and saw Neil Young. That was fab. Also took Daughter Rooter to see Harry Styles. Quite a different era, of course, but rather enjoyed it, but for the screaming girls. And during his encore, I actually was able to sing along to one of his songs. He covered The Chain.
