I think the outrage might be a positive sign that there are more people paying attention to this election than in the past. I think there are a lot of new voters in this election. I was too young to vote in the last election so I didn't pay much if any attention to it. But now that I can vote I've paid a lot more attention. So what may be common tactics can still can be shocking to people new to politics.

It's not a push poll. And it's not being done by McCain. By all means, let's overreact.

HealyHoya said: "The degree of utter outrage expressed over these common tactics seems to be inversely related to actual, substantive campaign experience and knowledge."
So do you think that's a good thing or a bad thing, Healy?

I love how when the outrage is expressed by Democrats, Republicans are victims, however when the outrage is expressed by Republicans, Democrats are responsible. Yes the algorithms are propietary, and the expression for which you are avoiding is "turnabout is fair play."

Every time I see Axelrod I see Esh. I assume you're proud of the last 8 years, which you wholeheartedly voted for.

Every time I see Axelrod I see Esh. Let's not say things we can't take back. I don't like McCain at all, but to compare him to the Mustached One is even too much for me.

No man, not even Satan himself, would be a worse president of this country than Craig Esherick. Disagree with me, conservatives, if you dare!!!! ;D

I'm think I'm more disturbed by the general lack of outrage by people involved with politics over both push polling and the general fact that no one actually is honest anymore in their campaigning.
One quick look at a site like factcheck.org pretty much tells you all you need to know. Both sides are extremely intellectually dishonest. Yes, there is a strong argument they do it because it works -- and that's on the electorate -- but the reality is, we have a system where electing someone (to the Presidency) with real integrity is basically impossible.

It's a sad state of affairs but don't think for a moment this is unusual since it's been going on for as long as I can remember - and that's a long, long time. Candidates have always told things that were not true or at least they stretched the truth. Unfortunately if a candidate today told the American people they could not introduce any new programs while still balancing the budget; or if they told the people they were going to "fix" social security by cutting benefits and increasing the tax; or if they said health insurance for all Americans was impossible without large tax increases; or if they said there is no way they can realistically reduce our dependence on foreign oil in the forseeable future -- if they said any of these things, do you think they would get elected?
