One of my work colleagues has a daughter who is going to Yale this yr as a recruited swimmer. She was interested in Gtwn(I spoke to her extensively about the school before she visited) but the swim coach told her that she could probably not swim on the gtwn team--looking at this yr's recruits on guhoyas she appears more accomplished than all of them and is also an outstanding student(1500 sat top 3 class rank in a very competitive school).
I was pretty surprised by the coach's attitude as it appears that Yale has a much better swim team than Gtwn. I would have thought he would have aggressively recuited this kid. I admit I know very little about the swim program other than what my colleague told me--do more knowledgeable people know if this recruiting mistake represents a random oversight or a more consistent delusion by the coach regarding how good the team/recruits are.

At first glance seems like an oversight. Hard to say since I can't really compare her to the incoming class, but I'm assuming she's pretty fast if she's going to swim for Yale.
