Even I was cheering for Lester down at the St Marks Ale House...though I was somewhat drowned out by a throng of Red Wings fans. What the hell is this "hockey" anyway?
It's doubly impressive considering he's a lefty with that riduclous fence out in left field.
As for a catcher's role...as a guy that saw Joe Girardi catch a no-no by Doc Gooden [in person] and a perfect game by David Cone, I think the defense plays the largest role. Gerald Williams made an unbelievable catch in Gooden's game. Ellsbury did the same last night.
Varitek should have 5, btw. Schilling went 8 2/3 no hit vs Oakland. Then again, I guess Posada should have caught a 2nd perfect...friggin Carl Everett.
