So I'm reading Orac at Respecful Insolence today, as any skeptic bored at work such as myself is wont to do, and I come across the story of Tony Zirkle, who is running for the GOP nomination for a House seat in NW Indiana. It seems Tony thought it would be a good idea to give a speech to a Neo-Nazi organization. On Hitler's birthday. And then describe how Jews are responsible for the "porn dragon". Tony's been desperately trying to explain this all away. As you can see in the photos and videos in Orac's post, Zirkle was standing right in front of a painting of Hitler. Everyone in the room had swastika armbands on. There were giant swastika flags right next to him. The dais read "Happy Birthday." His explanations are the epitome of dumb, such as this gem: All of this would be amusing enough, except for one little thing. I check Zirkle's campaign website to laugh at his "proof" of the Jewish -porn conspiracy (mostly YouTube links and nutter websites), where I find the following listed on his agenda: (emphasis mine). Oh no. I look at Tony's bio, and indeed, he is SFS '95. Students, alums, ANYONE, we cannot let this Nazi sympathizer use our beloved alma mater in his campaign ads. He's coming this weekend. What's the game plan?

Geez what an a**-clown!! Luckily, this guy will certainly lose (and hopefully lose HUGE) the GOP primary to Luke Puckett, and we won't ever have to hear again about him or his associations with Georgetown. (Plus, Puckett's wife is a hottie!) www.puckett08.com/images/Puckett_Family1.jpg

Alert campus police, he probably hasn't asked for permission from the university to film on campus.

Yeah seriously, campus does need to be alerted. This guy is out of his damn mind. It really goes to show that no matter where you look, there can be a nutcase in the making there.
He will get THUMPED in any sort of election, but still....no need to let him even try to use campus. This would be a case where I would finally agree w/ 100% of every protester out there.

I thought a college campus was a place for the free exchange of ideas and no voice is to be left out. [scarcasm]

"He also told WIMS radio in Michigan City that he didn't believe the event he attended included people necessarily of the Nazi mindset, pointing out the name isn't Nazi, but Nationalist Socialist Workers Party."
You're standing under a freaking picture of Hitler, and you don't think the event included people of the Nazi mindset? If he's not a Nazi then he's just a complete idiot. Besides, National Socialist Workers Party was the original name of the Nazi Party.
If he was coming to speak on campus, then you can talk about free exchange of ideas. But when he's coming to hijack the good name of our school for his own personal ambitions, that's crossing the line.

Alright, someone just sent me the link to this dude's website. It is completely out-of-control. www.tonyzirkle.com/campaign/homeWhat department offered the classes on the great Jewish porn dragon at Georgetown? Can't believe I missed out on those...

I vaguely remember seeing this kid in some of my classes (being SFS '95 myself), but NONE of them were of the porn-dragon Jewish conspiracy kind. I'm pretty sure I would have remembered that.

"Great Jewish Porn Dragon" was a wonderful class taught by Professor Duncan.
I took it thrice. Aced it once, and audited it for each of the next two semesters.

This should probably go on the hoops board. He was one of the cheerleaders in 1994.
You can't make this stuff up.

Ah, nothing like neo-nazis to remind all of us Blue-&-Gray-boarders how much we actually have in common....

For EDITS and giggles, I took a gander over at his website again. This stuff is brilliant. He uses the phrase "money shot" to describe the porn that seems to have infiltrated his message board. I'm simply amazed.
[Edited. Please keep phone numbers off this web site, even in reference.--Admin]

I'm simply amazed. I like that he's simply flabbergasted that the Republican leadership is not supporting him. "I go to one little white pride event and now you hate me? Come on!</GOB>"

I'm confused by his website. It says "Zirkle for Congress" with a picture of the Supreme Court in the background ... Also - here's the picture: abovethelaw.com/2008/05/lawyer_of_the_day_tony_zirkle.phpRemember Tony Zirkle is the only Georgetown Male Cheerleader with the proven pyramid-building technique to lead us after the world-wide pogrom and world war with Iran. Also, is he an alum? He lists the Naval Academy, Georgetown, Indiana, and Andrews University on his CV 1988 and 1995. I doubt that he graduated from three colleges and a service academy with four bachelors degrees in seven years.

From his website:
Education: Tipton, IN High School, 1988; U.S. Naval Academy, 1988-90; I.U. Kokomo, 1991; Georgetown University, B.S. in Foreign Service - International Economics, 1995; Andrews, B.A. in Religion and B.A. in Economics, 1995; I.U. Bloomington School of Law, Juris Doctorate, 1997; Andrews University Theological Seminary, M.Div. Cand. two tests remain.
Yeah, he went to school in Kokomo. But don't get how he got a B.S. from Georgetown the same year as two B.A.s from Andrews.

I'm more impressed that he got his J.D. in two years.

USNA message boards were afire before Bando brought the Hilltop connection into this board's awareness... The official record is that Zirkle left after his youngster/sophomore year under conditions that could be explained by a legitimate medical issue but could also likely reflect a behavioral or psychological incident. He didn't graduate and didn't perform any other service to the U.S. Navy other than his time as a midshipman.
There's also some concern raised that he apparently claims a number of certifications or qualifications that he either didn't earn or shouldn't be boasting, which would jibe with his rather odd claim to have earned his BSFS, and then nabbed two B.A.s and a J.D. in the next two years.
I'm not calling Zirkle a liar, I'm just saying he may not be the most reliable individual in the state of Indiana.

I'm more impressed that he got his J.D. in two years. And his A- in Con Law - that's mighty fine ... ;D Also he apparently was in a legal writing and rhetoric program - how unique!
