Wonder if Angelos would make a mandatory clause about MASN having all rights to the Os games

Don't forget about Miguel Cabrera. He's only 25. I think the Tigers win the division, but I forgot about Zumaya's injury in my first post, so I guess that I'm going to back off my "no way they don't win if they stay healthy" post, but that lineup is still ridiculous and can back up Verlander-Bonderman-Willis. I think the Tigers and Indians battle for first, the Twins take third (everyone is writing them off, but they've got good young hitters and a lot of good young pitchers, and still have a good bullpen). The White Sox continue to get older, and only the acquisition of Swisher keeps them ahead of a much improved Royals team. I think the AL Central will only be challenged by the AL East for the title of best division in baseball this year Despite the Tigers' crazy line-up, I still like the Indians to win the Central. TBird, I'll bet you a nickel that the Sox finish ahead of the Twins. I sure did love Buerhle's performance today. OTOH, Nick Masset must have been nice, which is good to see. OTOOH, there's Octovio Dotel, who looks like he'll be a fine addition to last year's fire brigade. re: Dotel - not good when you pick up someone the Royals were willing to let go.

MASN would presumably be part of the sale... thats how the last appraisal of the team went.

I think that yall may have fallen for a cruel April Fool's joke. Sorry-I just don't think Angelos is actually going to sell the team

Angelos selling the team? Only in my sweetest dreams.
Though its still possible that the Orioles will go 161-1 this year, I honestly cannot think of any scenario in which this team will lose less than 100 games this year. Cutting Gibbons was a nice start. But, that leaves Aubrey Huff, Ramon Hernandez, Jay Payton, Melvin Mora and Denys Baez as bad contracts still taking up roster space/languishing on the DL.
I was in the San Francisco/Oakland this past weekend and caught a couple Giants exhibition games. Granted it was still technically pre-season, but, after seeing their starters throw the ball around like the Bad News Bears, infielders colliding with outfielders, and seeing all the ads around AT&T trying to get fans psyched for powerful cleanup hitter Benjie Molina, I think the teams who wear Orange and Black will combine for 200 losses. The Bleacher crowd at AT&T has already started the "whats the matter with Sabean? HE'S A BUM!" chant. Reminded me of many "sell the team" chants I've heard in the last 6 or so years in Baltimore.
The upside is the Giants have some young arms to be excited about. The Orioles have some young hitters to eventually be excited about. How about a Giants-Orioles World Series in 2011?

You'd have loved it, RDF -- the Padres/Astros game on ESPN2 was graced by the worst announcing team in the history of time: Sean McDonough, Orestes Destrade and Candy Maldonaldo. Aside from the fact that Maldonaldo can barely speak English, the two color guys were so trite I felt bad for the Syracuse guy. At one point Candy simply said, out of the blue, "Fundamentals." The gem you'd have loved: "Joe Torre, he's going to take the Dodgers to another level." Last night, I was disappointed that ESPN blacked out this game in my local market, despite the fact that no local channel was showing the game. Today, I am relieved. Re: kc's Dotel comment above, Kenny Williams has been consistently putting together questionable bullpens for years. The other old Royals closer in the pen for the South Siders is Mike MacDougal, who posted a 6.80 ERA last season. (For the record, though, I do like the addition of Scott Linebrink.) Speaking of the pale hose, is Nick Swisher really the best option as a leadoff man while Jerry Owens is on the DL? Also, how the hell is Josh Fields starting this season in the minors?

Not many teams out there (Yankees. Cards?) that could pull off a show like the Dodgers did yesterday: www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-plaschke1apr01,1,562217.column And is there anyone as cool and graceful as Sandy Koufax? The guy looks he could still probably snap a curve over the plate for a strike.

Watching Torre in Chavez ravine was like reliving the Dodgers moving cross country. Are the Giants really gonna rely on Aaron Rowand for offensive production? You might as well bring up the Triple A team. Also, highly refreshing and entertaining to watch the Royals win a game that for sure looked like another carbon copy Royals loss.

Gotta have faith in Rowand...as the signs outside AT&T proclaim "Aaron is a Gamer!" At what point does the competitor in Rowand start to regret signing that 5 year contract?

the most annoying player award has to go to jobu. this clown celebrates an 8th inning strikeout of frank thomas like it's the last out of the world series. he would have been in more trouble if not for a garbage 3rd strike call on vernon wells. he reminds me of the gramatica's celebrating a first quarter field goal in september. maybe jobu will get hurt celebrating like bill did in giants stadium. even worse is having to listen to that moron michael kay gush over porky like he's the greatest pitcher on the planet after 25 innings in the bigs. i can't wait for this lard ass to be a starter so teams can see him for more than one inning at a time.

I get YES up here and watched the game last night. During the post-game show, David Cone echoed your sentiments, saying he needed to learn how to controll that exuberance, that things like that should be routine for a guy who's pegged to be a starter (and a star) one day. He eventually just chalked it up to a young guy getting excited on opening day. Personally, I don't care. Was it a bit much? Probably, but rather insignificant in the scheme of things. Safe to assume Girardi will say something if its truly out-of-line...

Just something about him makes him look more like he give little plastic awards to kids for being good while he does a cleaning, rather than someone who once recieved Cy Young Awards. In fact, if it wasn't for the Dodgers uniform, Young Sandy probably would have looked more like a dental student than a baseball player. His fastball may have been imposing, but his physique was not.

The entire Yankee "show" is getting out of hand. Curtain Calls for HR's in 6th inning? Chamberlain celebrating like it's the World Series/Playoffs? That as Cone said will change--or needs to be changed. Can't say I disagree with anything said. Baseball more then any sport--it's a marathon not a sprint and one day you are on top of world, next game you are the worst thing to ever take the field.
The most positive thing for me as a fan--Joe Torre is gone, Don Mattingly is gone, The clown show has me "Misremembering" his presence last year, and AFTER this year--Mussina, Giambi, Farnsworth, Pettitte, Abreu, will join the list.
Negative--4 more years of Posada.

Mike Hampton got scratched from his first start. Is he the most snake-bit player in history or is Hampton the world's greatest hypochondriac?
Does this guy ever actually make a start for the Braves this year? or ever?

Who wants to be Girardi or one of the vets told him to cool his jets a bit after the histrionics the other night? RDF and others - is there a link you could provide that shows contract length or lists which contracts are up after this season/who is an impending FA? Anything along those lines?
