Cincinnati is also surprisingly high on Scotty Hopson's list. Hopson is ranked #9 by Rivals. They are losing guards and have recruited pretty good replacements.

Cincy just got Varez Ward, who's sleeper in my opinion. A freakish athlete, who will be a nice surprise once his jumper catches up with the rest of his game. Good defender too. Originally from AL. Played HS ball with Courtney Fortson, who signed with Arkansas.

2 players to add to the list-
Cincy also has former McDonald's All-American Mike Williams 6'7 PF. He transferred from TX and missed last year due to a knee injury.
Also, Dwayne Anderson started the 2nd half of the season for Nova.

In regard to possible recruits
Tyreke Evans - will probably go to Memphis, but Nova has a shot Devin Ebanks - will probably go to Memphis, but Rutgers & WV have a shot Scotty Hopson - will probably go to TN, but Cincy is a long shot. Ater Majok - as RDF said, UCONN is the heavy favorite

Calhoun said on a radio show that he's got Majok (without naming him, but said enough facts to make it conclusively him). It's probably bad news for UConn -- since it seems like he's more of a Thabeet replacement/backup than anyone and won't be as good.

It's probably bad news for UConn -- since it seems like he's more of a Thabeet replacement/backup than anyone and won't be as good. Jim Calhoun is holding his annual "Recruiting Camp" during the Non-contact period at a Casino this year--so expect Thabeet to hit the jackpot and somehow stay another year. Majok will replace Curtis Kelly-who Calhoun is sending out--and Doug Wiggins more then likely-for getting Jerome Dyson in trouble. When you are in a public restroom--and something is stuck on bottom of your shoe--and you are afraid to even look and actually are praying it's gum--that is still above the level of disgust that is Jim Calhoun and how he runs his program. BTW-to the poster who said Nate Miles likely won't be "eligible". Here's some Calhoun-ism for you. UConn was trying to get Nate Miles accepted in time for this past season's 2nd Semester--and Big East play--despite the fact he left his 5th HS in last 2 years four weeks prior to 2nd semester at UConn. Needless to say-he'll be eligible.

It was mentioned above that the bye situation doesn't change, but it does in a sense for teams 9-12. Courtesy of ESPN.com: "Teams seeded ninth through 16th will meet on the first day. The four winners will advance to play seeds 5 through 8. The top four seeded teams will still receive a bye to the quarterfinals, where they will meet the winners of the second day's games."
I think the only other conference tournament that uses a format like this is the Big West. Bottom half teams would have to win FIVE games where the top four only have to win three. This makes it obscenely difficult for anybody in the bottom half to win the tournament.

First time hearing about this new format, maybe I missed the press release or something. Just trying to get it straight though- Teams 1-4 would get a bye to Quarter Finals (only need to play 3 games for championship), 5-8 would get a bye on the first round (would need to play 4 games for championship), and 9-12 would play 13-16 on the first day (thus would need 5 games for the championship). Is that all right? So now, how would they seed everyone? (imagine these are the Quarter-final round) Games: 1 vs. 8/9/16 , 2 vs. 7/10/15, 3 vs. 6/11/14, 4 vs. 5/12/13. IF these are a scenarios, it looks pretty difficult considering the fact that beyond the top 1-3, the top 10 are usually fairly close and competitive with each other (or at least recently)

He been tryin to get rid of Kelly for a minute. Nate is a kid that just has no interest in school. Always been that way from the folks in Toledo that know him best.

The only teams that really get hurt by the new BE tourney is teams 9-12. It gets a tiny bit easier for 1-4, quite a bit easier for 5-8 (theoretically some bubble teams in there) and obviously its better for 13-16.
If anything, it might increase the chance the BE gets 8 and decrease the chance we get 9. Pretty minimal impact, if you ask me, though.

Needless to say....don't finish out of the top 8!
I can't recall: are they moving the finals to Sunday, or did they decide to start the tournament on Tuesday?

I think they're starting it a day earlier, on Tuesday.

Personally, I'm putting the Hoyas in the top three of the Big East. It's hard to say at this point, not knowing who's jumping ship or not, and we may be young, but I can really see these guys putting it together by the end of Big East play. With whatever starting line-up we end up with, we're going to have athletes at each position, we're going to play line-ups specifically recruited and designed for the Princeton offense (I'd say for the first time under JTIII, I'm not complaining, but with a traditional center like Roy it's harder to run), which will definitely be exciting. Once these guys figure it out, I see a high ceiling for the Hoyas next year.

Also hurt- fans buying ticket packages who now will be compelled to pay for two sessions on Tuesday. How many people will actually be in MSG for a Tuesday afternoon doubleheader of Cincinnati-St. John's and Depaul-Rutgers? On the plus side, at least the NYC area teams are among the most likely to be playing Tuesday. Even so, if you are a fan of one of the top 4 seeds, there will be 4 sessions you have to pay for before your team even plays a game, and a very limited market for resale. Swell.

Would be a big get for 'Nova (from Katz):
• Duke announced that freshman shooting forward Taylor King has been granted a release to transfer to another school. According to multiple sources, Gonzaga and Villanova are likely to be his finalists.

If Blair stays, Pitt has to be the favorite.

If Blair stays, Pitt has to be the favorite. Even if Thabeet hypothetically stays as well? In my mind that would make UConn a top 5 team and easy favorite
