And therefore, because we don't fully understand why the temperature has gone up, we shouldn't do anything to reduce greenhouse gases. Makes perfect sense. Until we prove to a certainty that greenhouse gases are the direct cause, lets keep polluting at the same levels. Great plan. Except that's not what I said. Maybe you should learn to read. I hope you didn't attend Georgetown. COL' 06 baby! Let's remember that I'm not the one denying global warming.

COL' 06 baby! Let's remember that I'm not the one denying global warming. Who is denying global warming? It snowed here on Memorial Day. I don't know what all you people are talking about with your "global warming" nonsense. ...among other posts in this thread

Even more emails released: www.forbes.com/sites/jamestaylor/2011/11/23/climategate-2-0-new-e-mails-rock-the-global-warming-debate/“Observations do not show rising temperatures throughout the tropical troposphere unless you accept one single study and approach and discount a wealth of others. This is just downright dangerous. We need to communicate the uncertainty and be honest. Phil, hopefully we can find time to discuss these further if necessary,” writes Peter Thorne of the UK Met Office. “I also think the science is being manipulated to put a political spin on it which for all our sakes might not be too clever in the long run,” Thorne adds. “Mike, The Figure you sent is very deceptive … there have been a number of dishonest presentations of model results by individual authors and by IPCC,” Wigley acknowledges.

Climate Change Conference: Pope Calls For Responsible Deal In Durban EXCERPTS VATICAN CITY -- Pope Benedict XVI called Sunday for delegates attending this week's U.N. climate change conference in South Africa to craft a responsible and credible deal to cut greenhouse gases that takes into account the needs of the poor.
The 84-year-old German pope has voiced increasing concern about protecting the environment in his encyclicals, during foreign trips, speeches to diplomats and in his annual peace message.
For the pontiff, it's a moral issue: Church teaching holds that man must respect creation because it's destined for the benefit of humanity's future. He has argued that climate change and natural catastrophes threaten people's rights to life, food, health and ultimately peace.

The Pope has no special authority when speaking about climate change. It's important to hear what he has to say but you don't have to follow his advice.

California should probably stop smoking whatever it is they're smoking. That can't be good for the environment.

Just came back from the American Geophysical Union national meeting in San Francisco. Didn't see too many naysayers concerning man-influenced global warming. In addition, our "excessive" use of nitrogen (mainly in agriculture) contributes to additive or synergistic effects on our climate.

And that's without even getting into the potential effects from ocean acidification ...

I never thought I'd see the day when EasyEd would try to quote James Lovelock.... Lovelock doesn't deny it exists, he merely dials back his own crazy science fiction ideas, which he was saying in 2006 would be a couple of people living in the arctic and billions dead maybe as soon as 2028 - to now, where he seems to be saying that he thinks we should force everyone to move to cities and just put bubbles over those cities and air condition them. www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2012/jun/15/james-lovelock-interview-gaia-theory

I had not realized that Lovelock invented the ECD. I have been using a modification of the ECD for years (negative ion chemical ionization mass spectrometry), which ups the ECD one dimension higher in obtaining analytical data. Especially good at getting a signal and detecting halogenated species. Many of these have higher global warming potentials than carbon dioxide (of course, they do not come close to the volume of CO2).

How about commenting on what was said in the article instead of making fun of him.
