A couple of track boards have highlighted the following athletes making early commits to Gtwn:
Men: Mark Dennin FL finalist Brian Manning(Tommy"s brother?)
Women:Emily Infeld(Sister of Maggie, one of the top mid distance/distance runners in the country, chose Gtwn over Mich + Stan) Katie McCafferty(FL finalist) Lauren Boudruin(2:09 800 as soph) Jillian King(Elite MD runner from upstate NY)
The womens class is excellent so far with each athlete having the potential at least to make an immediate impact, certainly one of the top MD classes in the country.
The men's class is thinner, with good pure distance guys, though they would positively surprise if they had an immediate impact on the team. (not easy to do unless you're a bumby level recruit)
Stanford has dominated MD track recruiting(men especially) this year like no other school-following up on Oregon's resurgence, beating out Gtwn for most of the top men. The Ivies have also done well with the pure X/C types, beating gTwn as well.
Hopefully the team's recent good results like Bumby's sub 4 will help overall recruiting--though probably it would be reflected next year.
Like the last couple of years we can probably hope for some late signings like Toby Ulm (elite UK 400 hurdler) in some of the shorter distances, where we recently have become much more competitive.

Nice interview with Katie (sounds like the interviewer was a Hoya fan):
Excerpts from the interview:
7) I saw that you're planning to attend and run for Georgetown University next year. Were you following the Hoyas in the NCAA basketball tournament? Bummed to see them exit so early, or not really into March Madness? What things are you excited about for next year at G-town?
"I'm so excited about Georgetown next year. Coach Miltenberg is amazing and he's done such a good job with the team and it's only his first year. He's an All-American miler himself and he really knows what he's doing. Also, Emily Infeld, who was third at the Nationals in the 2 mile, will be on my team next year which is awesome. I think we're going to be really hard to beat next year.
I didn't really follow the basketball team, but my coach did and he kept me informed. I was a little bummed when I heard they lost."

Nevada, when you refer to your coach, you're referring to...? Moe, actually most of the text was the interview with Katie, so he was referring to her HS coach. Sorry about the confusion.

Ahhhh, my bad, I guess I should have read a bit more closely, I missed the quotes. Speaking Italian all the time is killing my English.

Newest women recruit for next year is London Finley of St Mary Academy Inglewood CA. She runs the hurdles and has the second fastest mark in CA in the 300m hurdles.

Moe, if you mean what point in the school year, the answer is that it varies. As in bball, they have the early signing period, and the regular (when the rest of the students declare their acceptance). A bunch of big names in track and field signed during the early period. It seems as if most of the track people have been signed, but sometimes the names trickle in, not like bball, where everybody knows at about the same time they commit or sign. The Hoyas may get a couple of more, but have not been announced. In general the men did not recruit well this year. The women did much better.

There is a rumor on some track boards that the men will get Liam Boylan-Pett, who is Columbia's best mid distance runner. Most elite track athletes in college red shirt a year, but since the ivies don't allow red shirts a number of the top Ivy track athletes have done a PG year at Gtwn, Mich, Stan, Tx.
Hopefully this rumor is true as Boylan-Pett has gone 1:48.8/3:44 for the 800/1500, which is faster than everyone on Gtwn except for Bumbalough and Debole. The men have had two yrs of very spotty mid distance recruiting--the women were very weak last year but came back strongly this year with a number of high elite runners.
The men have recruited some elite guys from the 400m and shorter, but have not recruited enough mid distance talent to remain competitive when the current crop of stars graduates. Hopefully Bumbalogh's break out yr will have an impact on next years recruiting class. The men's class is so sparse that it wouldn't surprise me to see a couple of PG's, transfers, or foreign recruits on the mid distance squad.

Yeah, I heard that Liam is coming to G-town as well. I do think however that next year will be a good one for the Hoya men’s mid-distance program. With Alex Bean and John Maloy off of their red-shirt year, and Danny Harris, you could have a sub 7:20 4x800. Add Bumbi, Banks, Sandy Roberts, And Ayalew Taye, and we got 3 very competitive Penn relay teams- although we said that last year as well- but point well taken about lack of recruiting this year- need to step it up if this program is going to continue to go forward
