Can you Cub fans explain why this has occurred? I don't understand this at all. I love Edmonds, but he's done. Also, I see no reason why he should be anyone's least favorite Cub. It's not his fault that the Cubs chose to sign him, and I'm sure he'll try to do his best (as he always has) - he just doesn't have it any more. He's not a fat tub of lard who mocks the fans and hits .050 with men in scoring position, like Andruw Jones. He'll be least favorite because he will be insufferable while also playing bad baseball. This year vs. righties: .192/.286/.247 Last year vs. righties: .268/.336/.419 Felix Pie vs righties so far this year: .245/.317/.321 Reed Johnson vs. righties this year: .266/.327/.380 Insufferable is the only way to describe Jim Edmonds appropriately if you're a Cubs fan. The frosted tips were insufferable. That he watched his homers like he was Manny Ramirez was insufferable. His bitchy confrontations with Z were insufferable. Oh, and the fact that he ALWAYS killed the Cubs in clutch situations.

Ok, fine, I get it. He was a hated Cardinal, so you all can't convert over. I suspect that if he were productive you would all change your tune, but he won't be.

I think he should be like John Starks when Starks was traded to the Bulls. He refused to report, and the Bulls were fine with it.

Hey, Jim Edmonds! Stop molesting that Collie! Now!
Oh well, I guess you can't fight your nature.
EDIT: It looks like the deal is contingent on him passing a physical. Strong chance of Kaz Matsui-like symptoms? Anal Fissure, anyone?

I realize I'm late to the party on this Edmonds discussion, but I'm speechless - - have been since I heard the news. Correction, speechless and disgusted.
Is it wrong for me to be rooting for a Bump Bailey-type situation (but with Ivy)?

I'm not attempting to hijack this thread, but I just wanted to point out that I gave Andruw Jones too much credit when I said his batting average with runners in scoring position was .050. He's 1 for 28. There's no chance that Jim Edmonds will be anywhere near this putrid.

I'm not sure where to find Edmonds' BA with runners in scoring position, but given that we're stuck with him now ...
If you want to talk yourselves into it, Edmonds' park-adjusted line this year is .256/.330/.404. Wait, that doesn't help, Neifi's career park-adjusted line is .286/.360/.460. (per baseball-reference)
Can't we just dispense with the nonsense and send him straight to the Reds? He seems like a Dusty kind of player, and I'm sure Griffey will get hurt soon anyway.

Also looks like he's still at it.

Also looks like he's still at it. Oh man... that video of him diving for a ball that's about 20 feet away is pretty great. And yes, I'm hoping for a Bump Bailey situation. Great reference, One.

I would like to interrupt this thread just for a moment to politely point out that there is, in fact, no "c" in the word "Frakking."
You may now resume your discussion. Let me know if anyone wants to start a "Pyramid" discussion thread. Now there's a sport!
The Caprica Buccaneers are a powerhouse! Screw the Picon Panthers!

I have no clue what Boz is talking about.
About 2 hours remain until Edmonds K's against Maddux for the first time.

Also, I'll spell it like I spell it, frack yourself. Gods help us, Boz is a dork.

Back the the atrocity that is Edmonds.
Did anyone get to see the game? Was the crowd reaction as vitriolic as I would hope? Did he trip over a collie whilst dropping a fly ball? I need answers.

Based on the Tribune's "From the Cubicle" Edmonds received applause upon his first two plate appearances, but a smattering of boos after he didn't come through in 2 consecutive situations. chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/cubicle/cs-080515-cubicle-chicago-cubs-padres,0,5963740.column

I will boo him roundly and lustily on May 30. Maybe not lustily, he might like it. Vehemently, I will boo him vehemently. I'll buy an Old Style for anyone that joins me in my vehement booing.

Jack, will that certain Cardinals fan be there? If so, two Old Styles to whomever can shut his mouth about "Jimmy Baseball." Also, please note the pictures of today's starters. www.bleedcubbieblue.com/ Those are professional athletes. Awesome.
