It appears the idiot from the above post is in the good graces enough to be back in the rotation.
Gold, I don't like the way you have turned on your heroes, just last year you told me that Marquis is your favorite Jewish starting pitcher on the Chicago Cubs. What happened?
In far better news, I will have more chances than ever this year to indulge my totally irrational mancrush (not that there's anything wrong with that) on Kerry Wood, as he is now officially the closer!

So, is Marmol the closer yet?

I will not discuss the events of the top of the ninth. Never happened.
Also, Fukudome shall be referred to (by me anyway) as F-bomb. Beautiful. His performance today is almost enough to get me over my hatred of foreigners.

ESPN's fantasy guru told people this morning that they "need" to add Marmol now while he's available.
Rough day yesterday for closers all around, at least Wood isn't alone in having a bad opening day. The Brewers have got to be very worried now too...

I heard that F-bomb's throw was decent, and that it was a bad error call. Is this false, were the omnipresent Japanese media screwing with me?

Couldn't tell you -- wasn't at the game. Will be there Saturday and Sunday though - can't wait for tomorrow's Jason Marquis season debut. Maybe he can bat 8th since Lou is going to let callers to the Score pick tomorrow's lineup just to get George Offman to stop bothering him.

I watched the 6th, 7th and 8th today during lunch, and while they didn't look horrible, except for DeRosa's error, I just can't see them winning consistently this year.
Let's prepare again for a long one.

Query: Is Fukodome-san an unstoppable baseball force from an imaginary land, or some sort of Eastern baseball god in human form?
Despite some massive Cub awfulness today, I'm starting to think that people who don't look just like me might be okay...

Riot is just ok ... but Prospectus has loved Cedeno for a while. I guess PECOTA doesn't have a variable for "baseball sense" or "ability to slide into 2nd safely when your teammate walks" PECOTA is finally right! [W] God I love when the Cubs beat the Mets. So many years of merciless beatdowns in my youth... Sometimes I think I hate the Mets more than the Cardinals. Sometimes.

Ronny Cedeno will someday enslave us all. He can control the future using only his mind and a baseball bat (and glove). I have to say, this team is in a nice little rhythm. Now watch as they get swept out of Colorado and limp into DC. Who else is going to that series, by the way? Should be plenty of Cubs fans in attendance.

Dajaun, don't fall prey to the mistakes of youth. There is plenty of room in a Cubs fan's heart for hatred of the Mets. Maybe you just needed to see Doc Gooden, and Darryl Strawberry and Howard Johnson kick the everloving crap out of the Cubs for years and years and years and years before the unbalanced schedule changed everything. For those of us with those scars, well, plenty of room for Mets hate.

Well, seeing as the Cubs are the second-winningest franchise in history, currently sitting on 9,999 wins with a franchise record above .500, I'd say the question is better posed, who have the Cubs not beaten up on over the years? And I do remember Doc Gooden mercilessly drubbing the Cubs even in the later stages of his career. I also remember vocally cheering when I found out he was arrested for possession, only to have my dad scold me for doing so. I think he agreed with my sentiments, but I was quite young, so he didn't want to encourage callous behavior.

Other than the White Sox? 30-30?
Edit: This is a response to rooter, above.
Edit Edit: Jack gets all talky now that his team has gone from heartbreaking also rans to Yankees North.
