Edmonds hitting two home runs against the Cardinals has to have some people jumping off rooftops.

Obama is a goddamn moron. I'd tell him to go to hell, but he just spent significant time w/ Stu Scott, so apparently hell doesn't bother him.

Former, your newly found life in a swing state seems swell. I think I picked a good weekend to stay away from Wrigley. Panic seems to be everywhere - you'd think these last 3 games were the NLDS from the reaction.

Sure the Cubs are almost guaranteed to make the playoffs at this point.
But. Z. Harden. Lee's sudden inability to hit anything but a GIDP or can of corn.
We're doomed. I feel like a Cubs fan again. And I hate it.

Take two deep breaths. Breathe into a paper bag if necessary.
The Cubs are a mortal lock to finish with the best record in the NL. Give CZ and Harden a couple weeks off. How can it hurt? If I hear that these guys aren't sound for the playoffs (of course, with Harden that's an occupational hazard), then I might worry. And I certainly wouldn't worry about Lee. Slumps happen.

The official slogan of Chicago sports, Who Wants it Less?
But a special shoutout to the Brew Crew and the Twins for failing to capitalize on our issues!

Let us all shed a tear for the departure of Ned Yost.

Let us all shed a tear for the departure of Ned Yost. So strange... I guess his record against the elite NL teams speaks for itself but as of right now they are still a probable playoff team. Oh and congrats to Zambrano for getting a no-no. Hard to do when on the road* with every fan in the building going against you *why the Hell did Houston agree to moving the game to Milwaukee?

Haven't noticed any moaning about the status of Zambrano and Harden lately. Did I miss something?

Drayton McLayne gave up his chance to have the series moved to Atlanta or St. Louis Friday through Sunday when he opted to hunker down and hope Ike wasn't that bad.
He wanted to play a single game in Houston on Sunday and a day-night doubleheader Monday ... that way he could keep all of his sellout cash, rather than refunding the money.
Once Ike wreaked havoc, the list of available stadiums was much lower and Bud said, I have a nice stadium right by my office.

Cubbies beat up on CC again tonight (despite Prince's bomb that nearly reached the old Torco sign). The view from Lakeview Baseball Club was especially nice, as the ticket was free and so was the ice cold Old Style. Beautiful night at Wrigley.

One, glad you weren't on the one with the light-up Harry Caray as there was some obnoxious woman who kept holding up a sign that said "4" when she was supposed to hold up "6." I'm surprised Prince's first HR didn't hit you.
Wood's slider at the end was just nasty.

So I make it to 2 of the 3 games against the Brewers this week, but I miss the best one. Oh well. Was listening at work, though, and I thought Santo was going to die on the air after DLee won it in the 12th. Geo cements NL ROY (not that it was in doubt before today). What a series.

This is a little off point, but I'm just curious, are there any NL rookies who would even be in the picture with Soto for the award? I guess Fukudome, but he's tailed off. Anyone else?

By "tailed off" I'm assuming you mean "jumped from the incredibly perilous heights of the Cell and landed on his head." For whatever reason, that guy is D - U - N done.

It's Soto and no one even close.
Joey Votto had a nice year. Same with the two Atlanta pitchers who get no press, Jurgens and Campillo.
But Soto was the best and of that group the most likely to be really good going forward.

I have NEVER seen Wrigley that dead, both in the stands and on the field. Even last season I don't remember everyone being so shell-shocked
