The refs in the West Virginia - Pitt game should be fired immediately, blatently cheating in WV's favor, just terrible
At least Pitt won and kept those frauds out of the title game

Alleghenee Genac Genac Genac!
Thought the Stanford upset of SC wouldn't be topped this season, but Wanny The 'Stache and his Pitt Panthers just pulled The Biggest Upset in a season chock full of upsets.
In retrospect, I should have expected a Gary Pinkel team to lay an egg in a big game (I expected it to happen last weekend, not sure what about the KU game changed my thinking). Good game from the Sooners, who are playing much better ball than they were in early November.
John Chavis and the Tennessee defense, who executed a good gameplan very well, should be discussing how to murder Erik Ainge, who handed LSU the SEC crown and may have let the Tigers back into the national championship game.
Flipped back to the Civil War every once in a while -- why the hell was Brady Leaf playing at all in that Arizona game? It was clear today that better options than a hobbled relative of CFB's biggest choke artist were on the bench. Great ending to this one, and good to see the Beavers get a win in Autzen to add fuel to the fire of this rivalry.
Big win for Stanford -- the Cardinal topped Cal for the first time since 2001 (during the Tom Holmoe era).
Great day of CFB and it continues -- as I type U-Dub is up 7-0 in Hawaii.

To add to #1 and #2 going down, the only unbeaten left (Hawaii) is in big trouble right now against Washington.
And the refs at the West Virginia game had to be paid off by the Mountaineers. That was some of the worst and most one-sided officiating I've ever seen, and I'm certainly no Pitt fan. The NCAA or Big East needs to conduct some sort of official review of that game. It's one thing to just screw up - refs do that all the time. But to make so many completely awful and one-sided calls (and non-calls) is just completely unacceptable, and those refs don't belong in the Big East or any other major college football conference.
Major kudos to Pitt for not only beating the #2 team in the nation, but also overcoming that abysmal officiating.

So, I just watched the tail end of Sportscenter and College Football Final. How come nobody is talking about the possibility of a split national championship? Think about it -- a team not in the National Championship game could possibly win the AP title.

Hey, Hawaii came back from TWO 21 pt. deficits to win35-28, Colt Brennan and his receivers are awesome. Since the Defense isn't, the games are always exciting.
GO BOWS!!!

Yuck. Sportswriters and coaches will be determining who plays for the national championship.

Looks like Ohio State and LSU. What a bizarre season.
And I think Oregon should be banned from college footbal based on their unis. Those are the ugliest unis since the old Astros unis.

Ohio State and LSU is my personal nightmare this year--but I'm reserved to fact that I'm cursed in regards to who plays for NC the past 2 seasons--and let me say this--if the Superdome were to were to lose it's lighting the night of game and it was called a tie--I'd not even care. My suggestion for this stupid season--where NOBODY deserves to play in a "Championship" game--is to have everyone play in the old traditional bowls and settle it that way: Oklahoma vs Va Tech in Orange Bowl USC vs Ohio State in Rose LSU vs Georgia in Sugar Kansas vs Hawaii in Fiesta BCS Game--Notre Dame vs WVU--and let nobody attend or watch due to ND's awful play and the hillbilly factor of the WVU fanbase.

The LA Times reported this afternoon that LSU and Ohio St. will play for the BCS National Championship. USC will meet Illinois for the Rose Bowl. The other three match-ups have yet to be released, but Hawaii-Georgia in the Sugar, Va. Tech-WVU in the Orange, and OU-Kansas (or possibly Arizona St.) in the Fiesta. It is unclear who will get that last at-large bid.

What other options did the BCS have? You can't take more than 2 teams from the same conference, so the likes of Missouri and Tennessee are out. The ACC and Big East didn't provide any worthy second teams - so you're looking at either Arizona State or Illinois. The Rose Bowl wants the traditional Pac 10-Big 10 matchup. With USC in the game, AZ State was not an option.

The issue there is that the Rose Bowl has to gain "permision" from the Sugar Bowl to release Georgia for them to play in the game. And I know that there was a little contention about it earlier, but Indiana was chosen over Iowa for the last B10 bowl

I would rather have seen USC/Georgia or USC/Missouri in the Rose Bowl, but tradition is important to the Rose Bowl Committee, so I won't complain too much about the choice of Illinois. On the other hand, I see no justification whatsoever for the Orange Bowl having picked Kansas over Missouri for the final BCS spot. I know Missouri had two losses. So what? They were both to Oklahoma, and Missouri killed Kansas just last week. A Kansas team that, by the way, pretty much beat nobody this season.

I think that with the system we have now, the selections were as good as they could be with one exception. I think that Missouri getting left out in lieu of Kansas was totally unfair. Missour beats Kansas heads up in the last regular season game, at Kansas no less (I think) and then basically gets penalized for winning. If the Big 12 didn't have a Title game (ala Big Ten or Pac Ten) then Missouri would be preparing for a National Championship game. Instead, they lose a second time to Oklahoma and are out of the Title game. That much is fair, but to then not give them the BCS at-large in lieu of the team they beat heads up to win the division is flawed in my mind.
I could also argue that Ohio St.'s de facto invitation to the Title game, based essentially on the fact that they essentially had the best record of the teams that won bcs conferences is unfair. BUt all-in-all, I think the selections were about as good as possible given the parameters.

Arkansas offered 2.5-2.7 million. Bowden is apparently taking Clemson's counter-offer which is an extension, more money and taking care of the assistants.

Too bad--I was looking forward to Clemson getting an improvement as Head Coach and taking the next step as a program--guess I'll have to wait for Bowden's next season of failure.
