I have to admit, I have caved and been watching on a pretty consistant basis over the past few days (even though I know what happens 4-5 hours in advance of the TV coverage because freakin' Yahoo/MSNBC/ESPN/ect make it their front page news). It's addicting. I don't know how they do it, but I feel like I must watch everything.
It finally occured to me what bothers me about the winter olympics--the fact that there's no real "sport" involved. To avoid going into a complex defininition of what a sport is, the thing that irks me about half of the sports (skating, snowboarding, moguls, ect) in the winter games are based around some obscure voting system with so many rules and regulations, listening to the announcers explain it makes your head want to explode. I'm a simple person--to me, you either win by having the fastest time or scoring the most goals... there shouldn't be a degree of difficultly added to that to further complicate/bias things.
But, the one "sport" I am now addicted to is curling. I think the bullseye they shoot at is secretly hypnotic. I don't know, but I can't freaking stop watching it now. Damn you NBC!

So, is this now officially the dumbest major Olympics-related ad campaign since Dan and Dave? www.nike.com/joinbode/

Bode = the eric cartman of Team USA skiing... "whateva, I do what I want". ugh. Michael Wilbon brought up on PTI tonight that if he doesn't get two gold's he's a failure... I dunno. Things aren't looking too good Senor Miller right now. It's funny, becuase I had a high school teacher who taught him and couldn't stop raving about how great a guy he was four years ago. I guess fame gets to some people
I read the cheeks article last night... what a stand up dude--donates his entire USOC pay check to a children's fund. And it's Harvard's loss to not take him...

21-year old Ted Ligety wins Alpine Gold...wow. Came back from 3 second deficit after downhill portion. Incredible.
