By my count, Summers had 13 points on 6 for 13 two point shots including put backs plus 0 for 2 three point shots and 1 for two free throws. I counted 13 rebounds, 2 blocks, 1 assist and 1 steal. He also had one turnover. Don't record these numbers in the official record, I was trying to watch rather than take notes.
Over all, I was impressed with his athleticism but not his lack of aggressive style. He did have some flashes like, a full court dribble and score. But it seemed to me that most of the time he was in cruise control flitting around the periphery waiting for some one to pass to him.
His teammate Jamaal Barney had 19 points and got the MVP trophy.
Don't get me wrong, I am excited to have him and think he will be a great addition to the team. It is just In my opinion he did not have a particularly impressive outing.

13 boards is a lot for someone flitting around the periphery!

I should have been more specific. On defense he was inside usually guarding their center. On offense he would charge in if someone else shot. It was on offense that he played mostly outside.

The Cecil Kirk coach appeas to prefer having him play that way. I think he wants to help him hone his perimeter skills. Its the same way he used Rudy Gay who I beleive didn't play much on the perimeter until he played for Cecil Kirk. But just like Gay, Summers spends more time in the paint for his high school team.

I was there too. It was a lot more of a pickup style game, so I think the lack of effort (he seemed to walk a lot, didn't necessarily hustle) came from the fact that possessions rarely lasted more than 10 or 15 seconds--I don't think I saw a full rotation of the ball the entire game. He did try to chase down a couple of fast breaks though.
His form looks good on his shot. He was able to take his man off the dribble with both his left and right hand, and did so quite a few times. He got some solid boards--13 sounds about right to me. That being said, he tended to reach a lot, and didn't really move his feet on defense. You could tell he had a lot of talent and you could also tell that he didn't take well to the unstructured style--at one point he beat his man off the dribble, only to be thwarted when he ran into one of his own guys posting up. Things like that seemed to happen quite a bit.
Overall, he seemed to play well and you could tell he has tremendous talent. I can't wait for the Green-Hibbert-Summers frontcourt in 2006!!

Sead, the world's tallest cheerleader. Isn't that Darko's title with the Pistons?

I know... just joking. Unless you're a Pistons fan you've prolly never seen him play, hence "who's Darko."

I figured you were joking, but I could easily see how someone wouldn't know who he is, considering his total lack of impact on the league.

Imagine the Pistons with Wade instead of Rip. They'd have a shot in this series.

Imagine the Pistons with Wade instead of Rip. They'd have a shot in this series. Disagree. People understimate Rip. Rip is the perfect compliment to Billips in the backcourt. Billips and Wade in the backcourt won't work because their styles don't compliment each other. Its like when the Wizards traded Rip for Jerry Stackhouse, and everybody thought the Wizards got the better end of the deal. Well, everybody was wrong. With the way the Piston's team is currently constructed, I'd take Rip over Wade. Rip fits better with this team. The problem the Pistons are having is not showing up. Its like they have the snooze button on. The Spurs are good, but they aren't THAT good. I think the ESPN hype machine is going a little overboard with the Spurs and the "new jordan" Manu Ginobli. The Pistons aren't playing hard. But my "conspiracy theory" instincts tell me they were "instructed" or "mandated" to do so, and you will see a different team the next two games when the series gets tied up.

The Spurs are simply much better than the Pistons. This is how the Pistons have played all year. They got hot last year and played the perfect team for them to play in the Finals. They were never all that good. They are a good team, but as one dimensional as the Suns.
The Pistons have Chauncey Billups as their go-to guy. If Lakers hasn't been as thin as the Pistons, and Bryant hadn't been a ball hog, that would've costed them last year year, as well.
