Everyone please e-mail askespntv@espn.twdc.com to express your frustrations and make a case that it should be carried. Let's get a lot of participation in this effort to keep ESPN honest. There is no money required, just 5 minutes of your time.
I am going to try and get the Cuse fans on board with this as well.

Here is what I wrote. Feel free to use it as a template...
To Whom It May Concern:
I write to express my deep dissatisfaction that none of ESPN’s television channels will be carrying the Georgetown-Syracuse game on 1/18. This game is the only game this season between these historic rivals, and it represents the first match-up between the new Georgetown coach, John Thompson III, and his father’s arch-nemesis, Jim Boeheim. Beyond the historic importance of the game, ESPN is overlooking the quality of these teams by not scheduling the game. Syracuse is a legitimate top 10 team, and Georgetown is on pace for a post-season appearance, as it is currently within the top half of the Big East Conference.
I hope that ESPN will reconsider its scheduling to take advantage of this exciting opportunity to cover an important game during this upcoming week of college basketball.
Best wishes, xxxxxxxxx

I just sent this email to ESPN-I think it helps that since everybody has a GTown education, their emails should be pretty persuasive (though I wonder if the punctuationless one will use punctuation in his email)
To Whom It May Concern At ESPN- I am asking you to please pick up the game between the Georgetown Hoyas and Syracuse, at the very least on your ESPN FullCourt package. It is a classic matchup that has been rejuvenated with the arrival of John Thompson III and the current resurgance of the Hoyas. Depending on the outcome of the Villanova-Georgetown game, the Hoyas will be 2-2 or 3-1 in the Big East and are no longer the mediocre program of the last two years. They boast the leading candidate for Big East Rookie of the Year in Jeff Green and have played Syracuse tough the last few years, losing in OT to the Carmelo Anthony lead Orangemen two years ago and losing on a last second three pointer by Gerry McNamara last year. And as I'm sure you know, Syracuse is ranked seventh in the nation and is projected as a 2 seed in your Power 16 and boasts stars such as McNamara and Hakim Warrick. This is a game that should be broadcast and myself and my fellow Hoya fans would greatly appreciate you showing it on TV, as I'm sure Syracuse fans and college basketball fans as well.
Thank you

Fine idea, doubt it will work, but if you are going to criticize someone for lack of punctuation, perhaps you would want to spell it correctly.

Here's mine:
Dear ESPN,
I would like to say that I am extremely disappointed with your lack of TV coverage for the Georgetown-Syracuse college basketball game on Tuesday, January 18. This is a traditional rivalry game for both teams, and always proves to be great entertainment, as seen by the 57-54 thriller at MCI Center last year (broadcast on ESPN). However, for some reason that I cannot comprehend, you are denying even ESPN Full Court coverage for a matchup between the #7 team in the nation and one of the up-and-coming teams in the conference. I am extremely disappointed, as are numerous fans of both teams, and I hope that come Tuesday, this game is picked up by ESPN Full Court.
Regards, Matthew Kamenski

just sent one myself -- used Jersey Hoya's template. Is there anyway to circulate amongst the undergrads -- can we send it to all HB members?

To make it look like there is widespread outrage about this - not just localized on the Hilltop - try to use non-georgetown email addresses.

Great suggestion HoyaNick.
Maybe if we get friends (interested or not) from far away locals to send as well...
They have to put this on the tube...especially after4 not televising such a great game between GU & VU. ESPN missed a great game there.

I just sent the "Jersey" version from a non-GU address and threw in a little Fargo, ND at the end.

Anyone post this on an SU website? It's probably better if the request comes from both sides of the aisle.
Fantastic win today. Seems like a lot of bad luck from previous years has been dispelled. My heart and I look forward to the days when we are winning games by 13 instead of coming back from 13 down to squeak it out.

Yes, it was posted on Syracuse site, but the general gist there was that their fans are watching Lifetime that night, so they don't have the energy to write ESPN.

The way I understand it is that Time Warner Channel 3 will telecast the show for the local Cuse fans.
But for Cuse fans, and Hoya fans like ourselves who are out of that area, it still should be shown.

Can anyone give an update on where we stand on this. Has there been any response from espn or even an automated response? I live in NYC and get time warner cable, but I dont think that is what is being talked about in terms of channel 3 right? Also, is there any bar, college affiliated club, espn zone etc where this might be playing or is it a total wash? Are there people we can call? Are there more things we can do? This is our last night to try stuff, I am not having a heart attack over not being able to see it, I just have a whole group of gtown and syracuse friends that both want to see it and I am trying to find somewhere. If anyone knows something that has not been said, please let us know now. Thanks, Matt

There was an automated response that said the emails would be forwarded to the right people, but nothing more.
Not much else to report at this time.

Hey all, So I dont know if this would do anything, but I found this website for all the numbers of ESPNs headquarters, regional promotions directors, different sports desks etc. The link is here: www.ncta.com/guidebook_pdfs/ESPN.pdfMy intention is not to create a lot of annoying phone calls etc for espn, but now that we are a day away it might be good to email one of these people about carrying the game. I called espn headquarters in bristol ct and got the number for Viewer Response headquarters and it is 860-766-2236 after which you press "0" to bypass the voice message machine. Anyway I guess we can start a little grass roots campaign here if people want to get them to put this game or future games on the schedule. But check out the above link and see if any of you can find anything out. Cool, viva la revolucion
