''I'm happy we did it,'' coach Bill Belichick said. ''I'll leave the comparisons to everyone else.'' Any comment on him going to the wrong sideline before the game? That's worse than Thurman Thomas forgetting his helmet...I mean, nobody ever called Thurman Thomas a genius.

It was hilarious to see him looking around the empty sideline, looking across the field and seeing his team, then running across the field.
Hilarious to me, anyway.

And about the whole "dynasty" thing (and this is my last word on it)...I don't think you can "lower the standards" because of the times that this team plays in.
To me, and I've said this before, a dynasty is a team that shows an extended period of dominance - UCLA basketball had one, the Pittsburgh Steelers had one, the San Francisco 49ers might have had one, the Chicago Bulls had one, and the New York Yankees may have had one. The Patriots need to keep it up a couple more years before you can talk seriously about it, in my mind.
Two main points, though: 1) Dynasties are something that should be crowned in retrospect - it just doesn't seem right to say "we're in the middle of a dynasty". It seems more appropriate to look back and say "Wow, that team was dominant, that's a dynasty right there".
2) If we're lowering the standards for dynasties because of competitive balance, we should actually have competitive balance. When one team wins 3 out of 4 Super Bowls, and another team is in the conference championship game for 4 straight years, there really isn't all that much balance, now is there?
Just throwing that out there - no need to rip it as sour grapes or anything. I'm tired of the Super Bowl, so I probably wouldn't respond anyway.

When that other team only makes it past the conference championship game one of those times, and loses to three teams in the other three tries, I'd say that's balance. There's certainly been a lot more competition on the AFC side over the last few years. ;D

I'm tired of the Super Bowl, so I probably wouldn't respond anyway. Ah the mating call of the forlorn and cursed. I knew yee well. I guess that's the difference between winning and losing. If you loose, it can't ever be forgotten fast enough. If you win, you never want it to end.

The New York Yankees may have had a dynasty? Actually, they've had a bunch, curse them.
