This is the type of win that we can really build on. Very excited about next week's matchup with Navy.

Great news!
The Tewaaraton has added Miles Kass (Sr, G) and Ashby Kaestner (So, M) to its Watch list.
Ashby has been amazing all season long and Miles is finally getting some recognition. It is difficult to get recognized for the Tewaaraton as a Goalie but here he is. After last Saturday's performance vs. Duke he deserves this!

Miles has been legitimately great this year - one of the best in the country. He hasn't had the career people expected of him up until now, but he seems to be healthy and putting it together.
Lacrosse has my undivided attention now, with the...unpleasantness...in my preferred spring sport.

Old news, but the men's team moved up to #4 in the new poll.
Go Georgetown! BEAT NAVY!
NOTE: Mods, ProBoards is in need of an overhaul. When I originally posted this, it somehow ended up in the McDonalds AA game thread on the other board.

Georgetown wins in overtime!!! Routing "The Mount" this week should be a nice reward for two huge wins in as many weekends. Congrats to the men's team.

No reason to wish for a larger margin of victory. As noted in the past, Coach U uses this mid-week game (when the Mount is on our schedule) to get some live action against an opponent for some of the younger players who may be asked to step up as we move towards the playoffs. I feel comfortable in saying that if our starters had stayed in, we would have scored more goals. We scored 6 in the 1st quarter alone. I think it's great that Coach gets the freshmen & sophomores out there, and for a home game at that. To see names in the box score like Nibley, Mufarrij, Shotwell, Shannon, and all 3 goalies getting time is a tribute to a class coach and a class program.

Men's game just ended on CN8. A slightly lackluster affair against a greatly improved Fairfield squad. We had a case of the dropsies, and if it weren't for another solid effort from Miles, this game may have hurt. We have to do better on faceoffs, not just winning percentage, but defense off of lost FO's. Fairfield scored 3 goals on fast breaks right out of the faceoff.
Final score: 10-8
Always great to get a conference win on the road, but we have to play better in a conference road game next week, when we travel to Loyola, who is undefeated in the ECAC. The Greyhounds always give us a tight game. Let's hope this game turns out better than our last trip there 2 years ago.
See you all there!
Also, regarding the Women........they lost 18-3 at Syracuse. A few things at play here:
-Syracuse is having a FANTASTIC year, and may, in fact be the better team. They were ranked 5, and our Hoyas 6 in the last poll.
-I have not seen the stats yet, but I would NOT be surprised if draw controls were a huge issue
-Always tough to win on the road, and the Dome is a very tough place to play; they get a decent crowd
-This is the 1st time we have lost to Syracuse in the regular season since the Big East formed for lacrosse in 1999

Yeah there is another article about Vinson on the guhoyas website as well and I also think Laxpower picked up that article, too.
You can't say enough about Dan Vinson. Student athlete to the fullest. I mean the kid goes through the NHS very well (the name Angerio still sends me to a corner shivering) and works so damn hard on lax as well. Really nice, warm kid.

Question for those more in the know than I: should I be worried about the game at Loyola this weekend?
Looking at their schedule, the Greyhounds have been up and down all season (lost to Siena but played Syracuse tough on the road weekend before last, and routed Rutgers this past Saturday). Plus, Loyola is undefeated in the ECAC, so we might be battling for the conference crown.
Speaking of Rutgers, thought I'd check on the records of the members of the would-be Big East lax league. Here's how it looks:
Syracuse: 8-1, ranked #1 Georgetown: 7-2, ranked #4 Notre Dame: 7-2, ranked #12 Rutgers: 4-5 Providence: 4-5 (but 4-0 in the MAAC) Villanova: 3-7 St. John's: 0-9 (ouch)

Loyola is dangerous. We lost to them two years ago in Baltimore. We are in Baltimore again this Saturday. If anyone is around, you should go, this promises to be very good (if not heart - attacky)
And if a BE Lax is announced I think Loyola would join. The women already have.
