Bando, some of your assertions are ludicrous. Have you ever seen a real starfighter in space? If the answer is no, then how the hell do you know that they can't bank? Maybe starfighters have some sort of space-banking technology about which even science know-it-alls like you don't know. And how do you know that sounds can't be heard in an atmosphere of "dark matter?" space.newscientist.com/article.ns?id=dn10903&feedId=space_rss20Finally, KC, how do you presume to know that laser cannons can't be heard in a void? Have you ever seen a laser cannon? How do you know that laser cannons don't defy the laws of physics as we know them? The answer is, you don't know. Maybe you guys should do a little better research before you go opening your big mouths next time. (Edit: Stupid drums...beat me to it by a day) I guessing you're just being facetious, but just in case you're not: - You can't bank in space because there's no air in space. Even if you could create a machine that would simulate banking, why would you, when you can just hit your starboard thruster and immediately turn left? How exactly does dark matter behave like an atmosphere? - lasers don't make sounds at all, so the whole point is moot. Actually, you shouldn't be able to see lasers either.

This argument just sounds like semantics - I define laser cannons and banking technology as something that can make sound in space. You have offered empirical evidence supported by strong logic that that isn't the case. BUT, that's just a theory. Its not a law. If it was a law then I might listen to it. But clearly, if you misinterpret several other theories (the ones I like, not the ones you like), then you can see that my opinion based on definitions that I'm plucking out of thin air is correct. Geez Bando, why do you have to be so incredibly gay? Actually, why is everyone so gay? You're all gay. There I said it. If you have a problem with that, it just makes you more gay.

That's just a big word for sarcastic...don't try to win arguments by bludgeoning me with syllables. I still contend that you have never once seen a laser cannon (which are different from regular lasers in that they are cannons, as well), nor have you seen a starfighter. How do you know that a precondition of being a starfighter isn't that the craft must be able to bank in space? If this were so, starfighters would clearly be able to bank in space, even without a so-called "banking machine." Moreover, the burden of proof that dark matter doesn't behave like an atmosphere is on you, since you are the one wildly claiming that craft can't bank in space.

I'm saying is that you are actually hearing a computer visually getting information about what is going on in space and then making a simulated noise in the cockpit.
That solves the sound problem
The banking problem can be solved using the fact that since they have artifical gravity then they can mantipulate momentum allowing fighters to bank like fighter planes.

Bad movie science? Two words: Flux. Capacitor.
Horrible movie in which science plays a major role? Two words: Starship. Troopers.*
* = Boobies not withstanding.

Bad movie science? Two words: Flux. Capacitor. Bad move science, but quite possibly one of the most enjoyable movies of all time.

I think the real question when it comes to Star Wars and science is, why the Edited would you ever fly a fighter jet that's not an X wing?

Since SciFi = Science Fiction, maybe HiFi = High Fiction?

Starship Troopers - though a crime against the novel - is outfrakkingstanding!! Some of Clancy Brown's best work since The Kurgan. Do... You... Get Me?!?!? (Besides, science plays no role in that movie whatsoever.)

I remember back in high school physics where we watched the opening scene of Charlie's Angels 2 and timed their free fall from the dam and calculated how tall it would have to be to allow such a fall
would it shock you to hear that the number was silly and unrealistic?
But then again I should just quote my uncle Bob who went on the Universal Studios tour years ago and decided to only watch the Weather Channel from then on because "all that 's fake"

C'mon, is that any less believable than Vinnie Delpino ending up as one of Tony Soprano's main men? Speaking of Clancy Brown, did you know he went to St. Albans in DC? You gotta love IMDB.
