Man are you guys really that sensitive? I admit that I don't like a "flamer" who does nothing but come in and hurl insults and the sort. But all I did was give one viewpoint on the game and throw in a little evidence to support my view, albeit slanted. Any you locked the thread? Is that typical for anyone who says something critical or controversial? I admit there was a little tongue in cheek humor thrown in, but locking the thread? for that?
In all honesty, I think the game will be a hard-fought contest between two teams which have improved tremendously over the season and are playing their best ball right now, your upset over Duke in January notwithstanding.
If we weren't paired up against each other I would be rooting for you guys, but obviously I am Gator first and foremost.

That's what you should have said the first time, flamer. I think part of the reason your thread was locked was because it came during a stretch of the day when the taunts and insults got out of hand... and in all honesty, your thread didn't seem much different. Just a guess, but I'm betting that's why it got shut down.
Keep the yap limited to reasonable hoops talk and you're golden 'round here.

I honestly put the post up thinking that you would think it was kind of ridiculously pompous of me to think that way and get a laugh at my expense. I didn't think that you would take it seriously and get all upset and lock the thread. On every single other board I have been to, far worse is said and often. I offered no cussing or insults. All I did was point out a misconception that I see others having about our team and then in a clearly half joking way say that you would "keep it within 20." Were the shoe on the other foot I might wonder if this guy was really that arrogant and over confident or is he just "yanking my chain" so to speak. But I wouldn't take offense and lock the thread over that. Honestly, were those comments deserving of a locked thread in your mind? Secondly, is that typical? In other words are similar posts routinely locked like that?

I haven't really been following the gator posts, but if what he's sayin is true, it's a little ridiculous, though unfortunately not that shocking. Come on people (admins in particular), let's not overreact and try to resist that impulse to flex our cyber-muscles. It's the same thing as when a former ex-coach is mentioned, even if it is relevant and worthwhile...ban/censor/ignore is the philosophy...
Let people post what they want..you don't have to read it...censoring makes us look bad and just encourages those who necessitate it..

No, threads are not always locked, but dumb ass posts that start arguments are. Are you doing some kind of investigation into the practices of the moderators on this board? gimme a freaking break. How long are you gonna keep crying about your thread being locked?
Maybe the thread didnt need to be locked initially, but it was Editeding off a lot of Hoya fans and could have been the start of a nasty flame war. Thats prob why it was locked. Also, I wouldnt go to an opponents board and start a poll that gave their team no chance of winning and expect them not be upset.

First, I "didn't take it seriously and get all upset and lock the thread." You have the Admin to thank for that. Also, not typical at all. The Admins generally let things go when opposing fans come around. And trust me... I for one didn't think you were being 100% serious.
But like I said, your timing was crappy. Your post came right in the middle of a long period of sh-t talking posts from both sides. Had you just been cool, calm and collected like you appear to be now your post would still be alive. You have to recognize its potential for starting a little war on the board... especially in light of what was going on in other threads.
Jokes - especially those from strangers and/or opposing fans - don't always take on a message board. Just be cool and you're golden.

Hoyaonbothsides, thanks that is what I was thinking.
Here is all that I said:
I mean, not to take anything away from Georgetown, but we really should win this game going away. The only reason we weren't a 2 seed was a 3 game slide with 2 weeks left in the regular season. But what most don't think about was that we were very banged up at that point. Our best outside shooter by far, Lee Humphrey, was playing with a separated shoulder and our best defensive player, Corey Brewer, was still hobbled by a sprained ankle. Now I know injuries are a part of the game and I am not making excuses, but we are fully healthy now. The National opinion of us dropped like a rock during that 3 game slide. The views seemed to be that we were way overrated and that the "real" Florida team was being seen during that bad stretch. Sorry, that wasn't the case. The combination of untimely injuries and back to back tough road games was costly. We lost to a very solid Tennessee team at home and then back to back road games at Arkansas and Alabama, both tournament teams. Even with the injuries, all three games were very competitive. We lost the Arkansas game on a fluke where a Razorback player got knocked 3 rows out of bounds in a loose ball scrum. When we came up with the ball, we lost track of him because you couldn't see him. It took him a good 10 seconds to get back on the court and he made a great play sneaking up from behind and stealing the ball for a last second breakaway layup. Again, part of the game, but certainly not indicative of this year's Florida Gators Baskeball team.
I do think you guys will keep it close with your slowdown methodical offensive scheme, but we should lead by about 6 at the half and then at about the 10 minute mark of the second half you will be down by a dozen and have to start playing a little faster. That is when we pull away, although I expect you will probably be able to stay within 20.
Florida 74 Georgetown 55
In all honesty, I expect it to come down to the last 4 minutes of the game. I just hope we have the lead and not you guys. You are a very hard team to play from behind.

Georgetown is back, and the Hoyas are likely to put a thumping on your Gators tonight. Count it.

Whether it was your fault or not, the thread was going nowhere near good discussion.
EDIT: For that matter, this one isn't looking too promising either.

And you also had that retarded poll.
The thread prob didnt have to be locked, but honestly, what message board could you possibly go to, post a poll like that and not expect to Edited people off?

[Deleted: unnecessary and off topic] Georgetown is back, and the Hoyas are likely to put a thumping on your Gators tonight. Count it. And edstimes' obsession with Esherick continues. Just because he rejected you everytime you made a pass at him, don't take it out on him here. One of the reasons there is even a game to watch tonight is because of the players Esh recruited. I'm hardly an Esh apologist but you've crossed the line between horribly annoying and into the realm of George Washington fans. Do us all a favor... go away.

And you also had that retarded poll. The thread prob didnt have to be locked, but honestly, what message board could you possibly go to, post a poll like that and not expect to Edited people off? I didn't actually intend on putting the poll up. It was my first new thread here and I clicked "new poll" by mistake. Then when I tried to submit the thread it wouldn't take without actually having a poll too. I guess I should have just copy/pasted the message to a new thread and cancelled the "poll" to start with, but I didn't think about it. Honestly though, you didn't get a little tiny kick out of that poll with the options being "Gators in a close game" ... "Gators in a blowout" or "Gators by the exact score (74-55) that I predicted?" I wouldn't take offense if someone said that in reverse on our board. I would probably say something like "hardy-har-har. Still hitting that Christmas Eggnog are ya' ..."

Have there been a lot of Hoyas fans trolling the UF boards this week? Just curious. Don't know about some of you, but on gameday, I don't want to be anywhere near opposing fans. Best for everybody to just leave one another in peace. We're all wound up tight.

hifigator: Nothing was censored. However, troll posts have been rampant today and to avoid a board meltdown I locked your other thread when it started to go off the tracks.

fair enough, I just wanted to make sure I understood the ropes around here. I got banned from the Miami board for doing very little and I just didn't want that to happen here. I later found out that they will basically ban you for not being a Cane fan.

god help us if (not saying it will happen) Gtown loses. the board will be overrun with these crazy Gators fans.
DFW restricts plenty of things--can't he start capping the registration of trolls?

I would rather have hifigator any day than the fake ed stimes.
No big deal about opposing fans. It will play out on the court soon enough.

One of the reasons there is even a game to watch tonight is because of the players Esh recruited. This is a Raleigh Hoya-like argument. As if JT3 (or any other D1 coach in America) wouldn't have recruited a team capable of being coached into the Sweet 16 by a competent coach. How do you know that this team wouldn't have gone 10 deep if another coach had been in place? Esherick's ability as a recruiter and head coach are best proven by his current occupation.
