I think we may be the midst of the golden days of the board. The official threads (including the official official thread that was taken seriously), the Buff_Way arguments, the Buff_Bridge mocking, the political discussions where Pete and Bin had to be seperated, and of course, a generally optimistic view of the Hoyas. Which reminds me - Buff's post count was like 436 a month ago.
Seems to me, we have enough posters to keep things lively, but a small enough group to make it a community. It won't be long until the Hoyas are national contenders and the board is flooded.
Anyway, I've been kept entertained lately, so my thanks to DFW and the mods for their work in getting this up and maintained.

The mods should take count of who's posting now, so when this place does get crowded, they can go all Sons of Sam Horn and require memberships to post. None of this random dopes off the street getting permission to post.

The post counts are only since 2004, so Bin's numbers would be considerably higher.
I was recently reviewing the old list of HoyaTalk "frequent posters" and saw many names which have all but disappeared from the discussion. Dose was a mainstay on the SportsOnly board but the official stats list only 4 posts since the board moved here in Jan. 2004. ProvHoya last posted almost a year and a half ago, while Mr. G/S, the original Hoya4Life, and the two Bills (Brasky, Zabka) have not posted at all since the new home. (And the Matt-Omega wars are way, way, WAY back in the history books. You should get special credit if you were even around then.)
If there is interest, we could add a board where frequent poster bios could be catalogued. Another idea is a regular HoyaTalk "whatever happened to" feature. Ideas welcome.

Perhaps re-naming the MIA feature "Where are they now?" might be a little more kind than MIA - but I think both sections could be a lot of fun.

Brasky doesn't post but he's always in the chat rooms for the in-game play-by-play.
TO BILL BRASKY!
The Omega wars with everyone were epic. I miss that crappy old board...
I remember before my freshman year finding it, then showing up on campus and getting all excited that I was the only person on the floor who knew anything about who Braswell or Willie Taylor were, or about GU recruiting as the year went on. The excitement for Scruggs was palpable back then...

Yeah, I found it the same year - coming up on 7 years ago. The first things I read about was this recruit we had a chance on - Joe Forte.

I think as part of the profile where it says when the poster joined, how many posts, location, etc. (which should all be mandatory... nice to see where people are posting from), it should have a spot for what year you graduated, or if you're not an alumn how long you've been a fan. Something like that. Plus the MIA and Profile Page sound like a good idea.

Ah, the salad days of youth.

Forte and Bogans! Great call, Bahstin (off topic, but what the hell is that ND jerk Kennedy doing these days? I know he had the bar yesterday and today... got a job lined up? After my first year with him, I never saw him 'cause of this stupid dual-degree crap. Tell him I said hi if you see him).

I remember feeling like a latecomer 6 years ago into what seemed like a longstanding fraternity of friends and enemies. Now it's interesting to see how things have shifted.
It seems like major transition points have included: -- each successive year of Esh's tenure, and the frustration that ensued for some (prov, van) -- the firing of Esh and hiring of JTIII, which alienated some longtime posters -- the start of the rivals site, which moved a lot of recruiting speculation off of these boards, and cut way back on the Great Race Debates between 'bin and hoya ron. -- the move to Proboards, which a few longtime posters never caught on with.
One thing that seems to have shifted recently is the addition (and the increased activity) of current students on the board. Hopefully as the team's success continues to grow, we'll see that participation increase.

I miss this guy:
********
Who was that? God, what an agent provacateur he was.
Some of my favorite conversations from the old board (not in order) :
-- Is Boston the most racist city in America? (yeah, I think I might have inadvertantly started that one with a snide comment about Simmons from Worcester, MA)
-- Process vs. results (thanks, dose)
-- Who is hotter, TV Buffy or movie Buffy? (Answer: neither, it's Eliza Dushku)
-- Is winning an Oscar the worst thing that could have happened to Jennifer Connelly? (i.e. - no more nude scenes, ever)
-- Is Matt Causey the Savior? (No, says ron, aka Tony Bethel's Uncle)
--The Pollyannas vs. the Chicken Littles
Ahh, the memories....
(btw, I think Billy Zabka is still around, but I forgot what his handle is now. . . )

I am, apparently, Masta Cow. That thing sucks.
On the other hand, I think a profiles board/where are they now board would be great. Or at least numbingly time consuming.

Is Ol' Filthy, Sweaty Bastard a good Wu-Tang name? Or is this website insulting me? Perhaps I'm too white to discern the difference.
