Brilliant response; of course, what more could I expect (certainly not the most basic understanding of statistical sampling principles)! BTW, how many other PL Presidents and NBA All-Stars are there?!

The problem that the football team is having is the same problem that it has had since the 70s...not enough pure football animals on the squad. The student attendance at the games is pathetic because they are primarily academically inclined with no interest in violent sport. There simply is not enough grunt on the field and until there is, tough PA and NY kids are gonna do us in. Let's get a Head Coach who can negotiate with the admissions folks and bring a handful of zoo animals into the fray each year.

hahaha, zoo animals? I think we need some good athletes but we dont have to completely ignore admissions requirements. I can understand lower standards, but they still have to be willing to work hard in the classroom, be committed to being students, and not be complete idiots.
Also, I dont think the lack of attendance is only because of students that are "primarily academically inclined with no interest in violent sport." That has some truth but I think a lot of it also has to do with horrible promotion of football games and the fact that our facilities are a joke. One of the many reason students dont take our team seriously is because our field looks worse than many of their high school fields. Also, the fact that our team has built a reputation of being horrible over the past few years doesn't help at all.
There are a lot of problems that need to be addressed both with the Football program and Georgetown sports in general.

New York football isn't very good, but thats beside the point...the team was better in the late 90's....it seems to me that we are getting bigger, faster kids that aren't as good at football....the 97/98/99 teams were better than the ones we are getting on the field these days

yea. it seems, having watched the games this year, that over the past few seasons kids have gotten bigger, faster, and stronger (maybe to all three)...but the quality of play has gone down considerably..they just aren't good at football (with a few exceptions). there is no chemistry on this team. bring in kids who have some heart and know how to/want to play football at the college level
