I just read today that Austin Rivers has removed Florida from his list of schools. Originally a Florida verbal commitment, Rivers "reopened" his recruiting last spring. He has now narrowed his list down to Duke, North Carolina and Kentucky. Imagine that.

With those three choices, it will all come down to whether he wants his NBA money now (UK), later (UNC) or never (Duke).

pr, I was thinking the same thing. I remember someone pointing that out a year or so back. At the time, I had only read good things about the kid, but then there were some comments that sort of suggested a little bit too much prima in the dona. Oh well...
On a slightly related note, his sister Callie is on the Gator volleyball team. I have met her and she seems very nice and is very well liked. There doesn't seem to be much of an ego on her side. I guess I was kind of hoping that Austin was more like her and less like Jeremiah. Those comments that he made after he left for Indiana have always struck me as odd. I don't begrudge someone for transferring but to publicly say much of anything doesn't do anything constructive even if it is true. And in his case, I think his reasoning was flawed to begin with.
I mean, guys transfer -- that's part of the game. But be gracious and go on about your way. David Huertas left Florida after our first of 2 back to back titles. He went to Ole Miss and then had a productive career for them. Of course, Vern transfers down here from Gtwon. I've never heard him have anything but good words for JTIII and the Hoyas. Rivers' comments just always struck me as odd.
vado, well done ... true as well

Actually, it must have been a typo in the article. They just said on the radio that his list is down to three -- UNC, Duke and UK ... but Kansas not Kentucky.

Shocked! ;D We'll see how he deals with the shared PT and Coach K with checking AR's ego. He reminds me of Paulus.

Just what I needed: another reason to hate Dook.

Yet another example about how that old Oklahoma maxim, "My Word is my Bond," applies to college basketball recruiting commitments.

Another way to look at this, Rivers and Duke deserve one another.
