I don't care if this is a cupcake that we're supposed to beat handily--I love the balanced scoring.
I can't watch: can anyone comment on Monroe at all? Is he making strong moves, using his right hand, etc.?

I don't like the renewing signup and cancel either.
Monroe went to his right once with a hook and missed. Not sure of any others. Sweet pass to Nikita for a hoop a few mins ago.

People keep posting links and saying they are free when they require a paid subscription. Paid subscription ≠ Free.
I am glad this part of our season is over. Now the real season can finally start. Any team with a leading scorer named Lumpkins is not a real team.

Great game for the most part. Gotta work on those free throws. Also, I really hope Greg works on those point blank shots; he's missing a lot of close shots that need to fall in the coming weeks

Wow no one has anything to say?
Break out game for Henry! He played great out there. Looked much more composed out there. He was our leading scorer! well tied for leading scorer. Greg missed a lot of chippies, but he went with his right a lot. Fine against american, but against butler and washington just go strong with your left at this point.
Great balanced scoring. Jerrelle showed some nice moves. Faster than I expected. Julian continued his great play. Solid win. Kep them under 50. american was a little better at stymieing our offense, but i blame their familiarity.

Just back from game+dinner. Jason is my player of the game. He was really, really good today, with 5 (!) steals. Then Julian, with steadiness and great D - his positioning on D is maybe the best I've seen at Georgetown for a big man in the JT3 era. So far, of course, since there is much more ahead to learn about this team.
Chris and Austin had their moments, especially in the mid-second half when we put the game away. Henry was in the right place at the right time for a lot of shots, probably his best game so far as a hoya.
Which brings me to Greg: defensively he is there, grabbing 12 D boards and blocking 4 shots. When he and Julian were in the game together, it was really hard to score inside. But offensively, he still looks like he has a long way to go IMO. I just don't get it with all the missed layups. I don't want him to be Roy or Zo or Sweetney, to say nothing of PE1. He is a different player with different abilities. But I don't think he is reaching his potential yet offensively, and I'm even a little concerned he may have regressed a little from last year. I know he still racks up the points, but he should be having 6-8 more points per game given the opportunities he's been getting. A guy with all-American potential who is 6-11 and takes all his shots but one from the inside should be doing better than 3 for 9.
Other minor quibbles: the lack of assists (10 on 27 made baskets), and giving up 12 (!) offensive boards despite what looked like good rebounding from Greg & Julian.
Glad the reserves got a lot of time today. That will be helpful to their development.
On a side note, I have had the same seats in section 110 now for five years, and I don't think I have seen Hoya fans a single time in the two seats to my right. There are *always* opposing fans in them. All I can figure is that there is a Hoop Club member with seats who does not attend a single game - WTF?

Good showing by the students, who "sold out" the wristbands for this game.
With that said, Georgetown isn't going anywhere this season if Rival Reels doesn't come back - the karma is just too great. If money's the problem, offer a coupon for a free pizza every game for the best video and let that be the prize.

The students were there in numbers, but the non pepband student section was Edited poor. No one was cheering at all. I could here the band side much more than the side i was sitting right next to. Come on Saxa side pick it up.

has anyone noticed that the first half of each half seems to be played in a zone and the second half is in man to man. The second half of each half has also been much better defensively. Am i just imagining this or has anyone else noticed this trend?
I was very excited watching Benimon, Vee, and Hollis play in the second half. They seem to have some real good chemistry. The back court next year with Vee, Wright, Freeman Clark Starks and hollis has got to be one of the best if not the best in the country can wait for it. I am loving the possibilities for this team in the future barring any transfers or injuries

The Good-
Jason's defense still looks great and overall energy was excellent
Vaughn looks like a complete different player than last year...his speed and offensive moves are all new
Henry...although still a project played very well...good hustle on boards and D and some improved post moves as well
Not so good-
Greg still missing a lot of chip ins and continuing to go left
Passing to interior post was missed or late when they had good position
couple of bad shots for Austin
Overall....looked good...now we will get some real tests

Other minor quibbles: the lack of assists (10 on 27 made baskets), and giving up 12 (!) offensive boards despite what looked like good rebounding from Greg & Julian. Well, American missed a ton of shots, so the Eagles got those 12 offensive rebounds on 45 opportunities (27%) - the Hoyas defensive rebounding was fine.

I'd love to see (though Im not sure they exist outside of coach's materials), stats on Greg's shooting from right and left hands. M impression is that he has been mostly focusing on his right in the first half of the last two games, and not surprisngly, he's been shooting terribly in those halves.
In the second half of each game, he's had a burst of points, almost exclusively using his left.
He's not having success with his right in these games, but it's not for lack of trying (or attempts).

Right, left, or whatever...if your hand is less than 5 inches from the rim, PUT THE DAMN BALL IN! He missed some real gimme's today. I know he is absolutely a key to this teams success, but when it comes time to hit a shot, he's looking like our 4th or 5th best option right now. (Hollis and Clark far and away being my top 2 choices at this point.)
I started w/ the negative, but really, this team looks like it has a TON of potential. Where did this JV show up from?! He's looking like a real force on the inside, both defensively and offensively. He's the "second big man" that we've been lacking ever since Jeff left. Obviously, he's a different player than Jeff...but actually, I like the bigger frame, the back-to-the-basket, etc. His improvement is HUGE for us this year. Clark and Hollis have come out of nowhere but are just so smooth looking. Chris seems to be much more under control the last 2 or 3 games. He's playing to his strengths and not trying to do too much. Austin is Austin. Vee and Benimon have not looked like freshmen. They haven't been tearing up the stat sheet, but at least they look comfortable. And Benimon really was a good bit quicker than I expected. I look forward to seeing if he really is a bruiser on the glass. And then Henry. He had the confidence today that I always want to see from him. Honestly, when we're in transition (on offense or D), he's just awesome. Part of me thinks that on offense, he should just hang out at half court for 5 or 10 seconds and then suddenly just start bounding towards the basket, at which time something will happen that results in his throwing down a dunk. He needs a good finger-wag too for these blocks. Maybe by the end of this season, maybe next season, but eventually, he'll be scaring people in the paint with that reach and that nose for a good swat.

yeah with the offensive rebounds some of american's shots were so surprisingly bad that the shots came off at odd angles. And with regards to our lack of assists 27% of our points came off of fast breaks. I know you can have assists off of those but a lot of them were one on one or break away dunks. In addition we had a lot of points in the paint over half our points. Back door layups are assisted but post moves don't get assists.

Where did this JV show up from?! Credit should be given where credit is due: he worked his butt off this summer to adapt his game and improve.
