Credit where due to Louisville in picking up the defense - Hoyas did a lousy job of adjusting. The only possible silver lining would be if this is a wake-up call. Like the Memphis game, this is a blue print for beating us - take the guards out of it and then dare them to shoot. It's one game!!!! Offense is unimaginative? Maybe GU should fire JTIII and hire Craig Esh back. Calm down people, GU is a good basketball team, not a great team. Are there any great teams in the BE? We're as good as any team in the BE and on a neutral court we will be fine. This will be a game that the team learns from, a plus in my book. The play of JWallace concerns me though, really struggling with his confidence but I have faith that he will respond soon. Wallace is just playing too tentative like a said, but all in all, we got beat by a hot team that outcoached and outplayed us after making good adjustments. Lville has great talent. They are coming on much like us last year. It is just annoying that we couldnt get the critics off our backs with a signature win. We got hit in the mouth in a really hostile environment and didn't respond. It happens to just about everybody I think. Just watch the film and figure out how to break the zone. And maybe shoot a few more jump shots in practice. Do you guys have any faith? are you even real fans? We are the 6th ranked team in the f'ing world. We made it to a final 4 last year. Now, it's "so long hoyas" or better, "we are done the first week of the tournament." Wow... We ran into a team that is playing great and a school that has had this marked on their calendars forever. We played a bad second half. Do you have NO faith in the staff? Yea, let's just throw in the towel. Yes, we have issues. Summers thinks he is a 3 point champion. Wallace is struggling. Rivers is arguably the worst offensive player and athlete in the BIG EAST. Macklin probably belongs in the America East conference. OK. so what? We are a team that has heart and fights. Luckily, we get to see Pitino and co again. Unfortunately, we can't say the same for Pitt. III and staff will coach the boys up. Our team is a bunch of warriors. I would take Ewing and Sapp in a basketball game or a fight over any other 2 people in the conference. We have 3 losses. We struggled. We also have a game on Monday. Belief is what got our team to where they are today. But after a tough half we just bash them? Be a real hoya fan, please. They have failed twice on natonally televised games where everyone was watching (Louisville, Memphis) and both games were ugly. Well, maybe they get the big losses out of the way early. I think Ewing should be playing big minutes, not Rivers. I'm sure JWall is hitting his shots in practice and his form doesnt seem to have changed so this must be a mental issue. Im not sure how you fix it. Rivers is ATROCIOUS against the press. He panics and loses the ball way too often. Roy dominated down low and probably needed the ball more but never before have I seen him have so much trouble with switching on picks. Hes gotta know that he usually should not switch and only do so if his teammate cannot pick up the defender and can help on the pick. Austin played well. Hit his shots for the most part and did well on the boards. Pat too. Except for one strange errant pass he had another day of fantastic passing from the perimeter and great energy. Weve gotta stop the 3s once we realize were not hitting em. And the defense has gotta be smarter, poor communication on picks and helping mistakes were there that we usually never see. But its one game and im sure we'll be back to form soon. Even the guards. Lots of blame to go around - Wallace/Sapp/Summers: 2 for 16 on threes - and one of those was Sapp's prayer as the shot clock went off. Lots of mental mistakes - Freeman running on the baseline after a TO, Hibbert stepping into the lane during a Ewing free throw, Sapp taking his eye off the ball after Padgett's miss, etc. Summers is the key to the team's success this year. And he's wildly inconsistent at this point. And why did Dickie V kiss the other announcer at the beginning of the game? It' clear his heart is with Pitino. If he shoots the ball from outside it's as good as a turnover since it will be an airball or brick. Basically you play 4 on 5 on offense with Rivers. All of them. But while you're at it, though, check Summers' stat sheet--he absolutely disappeared in the second half. Of course, everyone knows the Villanova defensive plan, and expect to see Scottie Reynolds in the backcourt challenging every single inbounds play.
