Henry made 4 big FTs down the stretch, given Clark was not making from the line for the first time this season. I also was happy he did not lose focus after clearly not having his "A" game on offense tonight. I still cannot beleive the amazing transformation Henry has made this season. The single biggest reason the Hoyas are now 10-1.

Best Henry moment of the game ... Dunk near end of first half.
Second best ... His singing of "five golden rings" on the jumbotron during half time.

To continue in the theme of "I can't believe I'd ever say X about Henry Sims," I can't believe that I'd ever say "Henry Sims didn't play a particularly good game tonight" in a game where he ended up with a double-double. As others have said, if his shots were falling the way they have been, he'd have scored around 20 tonight.
Tonight Henry had his "off" game that we've been speculating about. Yet that "off" game was one in which posted a "mere" twelve points effort and still played well in other aspects of the game. Yes, he had more turnovers than we would have liked, but still did lots of good things out there.
This is the Baltimore POY we thought we were getting. And he is apparently here to stay.

Definitely had a tough game, but the effort and energy were consistent. I wonder if the difference is knowing that he is not getting pulled over a mistake or turnover. I think that he was capable of this last year but never seemed to have the opportunity to play through the mistakes. JT III had options last year that he does not have this year.

Pretty impressive that he still ended up with the double double. In fact, if those 3 first half hooks that rimmed out stayed in, we'd probably be talking about a near-dominant performance right now.

Yep. Henry's shot gave you a thrill tonight, but it was just a tease because quite a few rimmed out after looking like they would go down. Still, a double-double.
Edit: Looks like Henry had only 9 rebounds. Still, I'll take it.

Simply put, I wouldn't be surprised to see Henry in the league next sseason If this happens (and it's by no means out of the question), it would mean two things: 1. He would have made greater strides from the end of his junior year than any other player in the history of the program. 2. I want a redo on his first three years.

FYI: ESPN Insider also has some notes on Henry's remarkable improvement this season: Excerpts How unexpected was Henry Sims' breakout senior season (12.5 ppg, 5.5 rpg)? Lets put it this way -- prior to this season, the Hoyas' 6-foot-10 big man never averaged more than 3.6 points or 3.2 rebounds per game.
"No college player may have benefited from the NBA lockout more than Henry Sims," writes Rothstein. "Georgetown's senior big man regularly worked out with former Hoya stars Jeff Green and Roy Hibbert who were regularly at the school's DC campus and it's helped Sims lay the ground work for a memorable senior season. After being a marginal contributor during his first three seasons, Sims is third in scoring for Georgetown and is leading the Hoyas in assists. Don't be surprised if this is the Big East's improved player."

the jump occurred his sophomore year against Ohio State (Hopson) when he led the second half come-back. Technically speaking. His junio year with Mourning, tilman and Bryant and Winston and Jackson...that was a team.

Mourning wasn't on that team his Charles Smith's junior year...Smith was a Sr. when Mourning was a Fr. that's the team that lost in the Elite 8 to Duke. The shot against Syrapuke was his Junior year.

Obviously, not the best two games for Henry, but the good thing is that he's still aggressive and he's still getting good shots. He'll get them to fall. Loved that he still wanted to take important shots after missing at Memphis and after struggling last night. And w/o his move pulling the defense away from the weak side, it'd have been a lot harder for Otto to get that put back (just like it helped Wittington get the put back in Maui). Now he just needs to make it so we don't have to worry about having a freshman w/ basketball IQ there to clean up any misses ;D
Another thing to think about, which I don't believe has been mentioned yet: Henry Sims is two months younger than Gorgui Deng, who is a sophomore!

I think it would help the team beat the press if they brough Henry up more to the center of the court on the inbounds play. With his height and passing ability he would have the ability to help avoid the backcourt traps that gave us so much trouble in the waning moments of the game last night.

still wasnt a terrible game. had some nice assist numbers. missed a number of close ups he should have made but on two of those misses he drew multiple defenders which allowed for easy put backs off the miss. More importantly, he has remained very fluid in his motion which I think is the biggest change since last year, an indication of his increased confidence levels.

Loved that he still wanted to take important shots after missing at Memphis and after struggling last night. Yep. Kind of crazy that he has become the type of player that you want to see demand the ball late in the game. He just seems a bit unlucky around the rim right now - I'm sure those shots will start to fall more consistently.
