and he's just scratching the surface. Imagine Noel in '13 and Trey in '14. Especially if Trey grows to 6'10 like his dad.

RDF, Mateen wasn't any more soft that Sam Jeff. Soffffttttttt!!!!! The hell he was. Sam Jefferson had some good games for Georgetown--and he/Jonathan Edwards led a spurt for Hoyas in '89 East Regional Final with some boards/hustle plays and in his worst moment--the foul in Carrier Dome--believe he had one of his best scoring games, which was too bad it ended as it did for him--had about 15 pts I believe as Zo fouled out was in foul trouble. Grady Mateen wished he'd be that productive or even on court to foul Billy Owens. Don't get me wrong--not saying Sam was great--but we're talking about Grady Mateen who I'm convinced has come back as Brittany Griner to dominate WBB. As for Trey Mourning hype--let's wait to see his development ID-watch that video-it's not Major D-1 level stuff. I'm not saying he won't be a prospect or develop as we know-big men often develop slower then other positions, but that was not worthy or Sam Jefferson or Anthony Allen hype.

Nerlens Noel would be the best recruit since Mourning. Several great players have come to GU since Zo, but Noel is that level of impact player that takes a good team and makes them championship contending like Zo did and he doesn't have to be taught to defend--he loves defense. What surprised me was how skilled/talented he is offensively. Needs work on back to basket game-but he's very skilled facing up and BABC runs a lot of halfcourt stuff like Georgetown, where Noel is at high post with ball and makes reads. GREAT, GREAT, GREAT player that I have had #1 since I saw him play--be it last year, this year or next year. RDF, do you have any idea of the effort GU is putting in to getting this kid? Who is on him for us?

Who is on him for us? I will defer to Alleninxis for this one-think he's talked to Nerlens before and he's provided great insight into some of the kids Georgetown has recruited. Can tell you that Nerlens continues to mention Hoyas and other day mentioned them as one of the 5 recruiting him the hardest. He's an elite big man, so I'm pretty confident Georgetown will recruit him until he decides. ;D

Nerlens has continued to maintain that G'Town is a school of interest and he will get around to visiting (remember he was scheduled to visit with Brantley but that fell through).
Brennan was originally his contact. Whether that has changed over the past year or subject to change, IDK.
Georgetown staff (again, don't know which assistant?) was at the Hoop Mountain Classic this past weekend, and Tilton was one of the teams playing. Assuming he was at least one of the reasons they were there.

This is the kid that puts a very strong Hoyas team right in the thick of the national championship hunt.

Compared to Sam Jeff, Mateen was down right fragile. Worst recruit ever by JT, Jr.
But I better be careful because that statement might get us into a Terry Fenlon discussion. OMG!!!

RDF you're right about Mateen, I just remember Sam Jeff being weak as hell and it frustrated me to death.

Has Noel taken an official with us? If not, could he be a non counter scholarshipwise if he comes in 2012 ala Drummond?

It's not like his education wouldn't be paid for; it would just have to be from non-institutional funds from an outside funding source, like with Drummond.

I love Troy, but he isn't as much of a need as he is a want. A PG and Big are imperative in '13. That said, things will open up and I'm sure Hoyas will have three ship available.
