Kudos to Austin and Jason today but for me, today's game was about Hollis' arrival.
I think Hollis played like a 6th man on a top 10 team today. He was poised and he played with a lot of fire (loved the boards he grabbed in traffic and the 2 backdoor feeds that I can recall). Also, this was the first time against a tough/good team where I felt Hollis' shot looked good. And of course he was poised from the line (like the rest of the team today).
Like Jerrelle as well but Hollis needs to be that 6th man for us the rest of the way because he is an offensive threat.
Big ups to Hollis today.

Agree but I'd like Hollis to handle the ball with more confidence. Benimon will be where Vuaghn is now in a few years. And Ill take that.

Hollis is showing confidence in different aspects of his game slowly but surely. He is certainly further along now than he was a month ago. He can handle the ball well for a guy his size and he will get more comfortable as the season progresses.
A month ago he would have passed up on many of the rhythm jumpers you see him taking now. A month ago he was also hesitant to thread the needle on a few of those back door assists he got today, but instead he would have made the safe pass around the perimeter.
I think he will be a fine player before it is all said and done...and by fine I mean AWESOME.

Hollis had a good day. But he also had a good day vs. Duke 2/3 from Deep and fighting for boards. We have only seen a glimpse of what he will become... but just in time. We are going to need him down the stretch.

Agree SirSaxa but I think Hollis was really ballin' today. I don't think he had any assists against Duke and only a couple boards (granted, he probably played double the minutes today). I'm also not impressed with Duke at all as a team. I don't think Nova is the second best team in the country but unlike Duke, they are a top 10 team for sure.
There was one comment Doris made during the telecast that I liked. She said you may be wondering why Gtown is a top 10 team with 4 conference losses. She then said something like all you need is the naked eye to see why. I felt the same way about Hollis today. Just watching him (regardless of his stat line), I thought he looked better (and more comfortable) today than any other big game this year.

It just seems to me that it has been a progression lately, and today probably was his best game. But that is a minor difference from your original post. Hollis is becoming a dependable guy off the bench with a complete game. He still gets called for too many fouls, still is learning his way - -but he looks a LOT more confident, is FIGHTING for boards and loose balls, is defending well and is hitting his shots now. Gotta love this team!

Hollis is definitely getting there. Today I was completely comfortable and didn't even make a subconscious note that he was on the floor. He played really well (love the boards). I'd love to see him take it to the hole and posterize someone. Now, if only we could double the kid's meal plan.

I think we've seen Holis growth from day one. His shot was always beautiful even though it did not drop. His ball handling and slashing have been there. Now hes improving every game, and our biggest games have been his best games. Very impressive.

Playing only 7 players does allow THOSE 7 guys to play the game with a certain amount of freedom and confidence. Hollis seemed a little too amped and a little overmatched in the game at Villanova. But Hollis knows he is going to play and his game has evolved in all facets. Now when Hollis shoots an open 3 I do expect it to go in. His toughness in snatching boards and strength with the ball is also getting better by the game.

Hollis still needs to quit on the bad turnovers, but he's pretty much like every Hoya in that respect.
My favorite play of his was late in the first half, Corey Fisher grabbed a rebound and heading down on a fast break. Hollis not only keeps up with him but gets ahead of him, gets in good position and forces him into a drive where Chris Wright draws a charge.

He made 2 buckets and he is still shaky as hell with the rock He isn't shaky the rock, he is hesitant with the rock. But I agree he hasn't exactly arrived. He can shoot. And he is a very good passer, a willing rebounder and a pretty impressive defender. But when he starts driving to the hoop and taking advantage of his sped and athleticism then we can say he has arrived. Oh, and playing good on the road for once would be a heck of a start. Kid has loads of potential but has yet to put it together.

A very good game for Hollis, he is definitely improving, becoming more comfortable in all aspects. Still a little lost on D at times, but almost all freshmen are. He obviously is working hard, will be great things to come, and a productive sub for now, which we need badly.
